I know it's probably a regional term, and some languages/cultures have their own acronyms-- e.g.. Military- SNAFU,FUBAR,..Medical/General Support (this board), LLMD, "Ducks",etc. This is from "Wikipedia", which I usually trust, as long as "edits" have not been performed on a "minute-by-minute" basis.,which we all know occur,especially for the topic "Lyme Disease"...What is your "take" on this?... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uff_da Joe

yes, it's a NORWEGIAN expression and can mean anything and everything!!


when i use it; it generally mean....oh my goodness! i don't use it as a cuss word!!


that was interesting reading.


red stangland's NORWEGIAN JOKE BOOKS had a character in there, UNCLE TORVALD, who in real life is my 1st cousin's husband!!!

Now if someone could just find a single term everyone can understand for Betty to use to replace her infamous quote "...break(ing) this up for neurolymies...".
