Betty-

I tried to send you a PM to talk about the current thread I started about newbies.

I wanted to say that if you were offended I am am sorry. It really wasnt directed at you. I really think your great and we have had a great internet relationship this far, it is unfortunate it has gotten to the point you put me on your ignore list.

betty- sometimes change is a good thing even though it is hard.

It seem that having a civilized discussion on the board is virtually impossible.

I am sure I have made enemies for speaking my mind. Thats unfortunate. But I am tired of keeping my mouth shut.

best wishes
melissa

Hmmm....I tried to send Betty a pm to make sure she is okay.

Guess what I got?

"Sorry, you are on this member's ignore list."

"If you don't have anything helpful or supportive to say, do Betty- and the rest of us- the courtesy of leaving her be,and this board free of one more poisonous exchange."

I'm confused; it looks like both posters wrote that they were trying to reach out to Betty to make sure she wasn't offended or that she was okay....how is that a poisonous exchange? Huh???

Sounds like there is nothing but caring and concern being shown to her, but that she is rebuffing that.

I admire Betty and her hard work.

Just because she can't accept PMs from everyone does not mean she is ignoring anyone. We all have to limit our time.

As for the criticisms of lengthy introductory posts, so what if someone does not want to connect to each of the links?

Yes, this is enough to make heads spin. But so is lyme. Not knowing about all the professional links is not going to help anyone get better.

As a former journalism instructor, I find it essential that people be given a choice and a good mix of materials from which to choose.

They don't have to read it all right then but, as a set, it can stand alone for reference to consult at their convenience.

Cheers to Betty and anyone else who has ferreted out detailed materials to help inform and educate with links to professionally authored articles.

It is not enough to rely on the answers from a few individuals. New posters can benefit from a variety of sources to read.

There is still plenty of room for the heart-to-heart questions that others are good at answering - plenty of room for various methods, techniques and styles.

And, as for those who have trouble with requests for posters to break up their text, it's just courtesy to present questions in a manner that is easy on others' eyes.

For some, they simply may not be aware that solid block of type are so very hard for many here. So, I think that is very important and a logical note if questions are to be answered, they must first be able to be read.
