OK... Was going to post this after being in the hospital the second time... but other stuff happened! [shake]

I think we patients should unite and rise up arms at the hospitals for only carrying "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" gowns! [rant]

GADS!!!!!

They're made to fit people who weigh up to 350 lbs!!! I'm down to 120 and counting. They are so ridiculously HUGE!!!

GRRRR! [Mad]

I wonder how big the kids' sizes are?

I seriously think the day is coming when they'll refuse to give us any gown and want us to bring our own-!

I'm 5 foot 2 and not too far from 120lbs and mine are always too small around and way too short.

At those prices, they should offer custom sizes [bonk]

I agree! I am 5'8 and only weigh 112. So yup, way, way too short and way, way too big. I think they do it so we won't be tempted to take them home as nifty souveniers. [Roll Eyes]

Hey, did you say you are looking for: Belts? Scarves?

I can see a new nitche - a new kiosk in the lobby: ACCESSORIZE - where you, too, can "pull" that garment together.

Actually, something like a sari (but with less yardage) might be fun! I have one tucked away. I shall remember that if I ever need to go for testing. Mine has some gold thread on it, though. That just might explode in an MRI, eh?

Meg, your hospital is behind [get it?] the times! Big is in, and I haven't had one too small or too short in YEARS.

Maybe you got one for a kid?

I think this is more of a reflection of the problem with obesity.

I think that average sized people are becoming less common.

Unless someone needed to get to my behind or other areas

Like when I was having my C-Section,

A loose gown from home should do it.

I'd rather someone cut it from me than stick me in a hospital gown.

Wait I know. Maybe they could make the gowns with velcro closures.

They could randomly space them for different sized people.

I am too skinny now too.

So skinny my LLMD told me to go off my sugar busters diet. [Eek!]

However, sugar just doesn't taste like I remember it tasting.

It does however, make me hungry more often.

No major yeast problems either. How's that?

Talk about having your cake and eating it too. [Big Grin]

Hugs,

Geneal

Geneal...be careful because the yeast will eventually get you! I can get away with things like popcorn or other starches more easily than sugar.

You should have seen what the male nurse did to me when I got the IV in the ER. He made a huge mess and had blood everywhere. My poor husband almost didn't make it!!!

With all the heart connections and messing around they were doing, my own gown would not have done it. HA!! I don't even have a "gown", come to think of it!! [lol]

oh yeah, hospital gowns...

i asked one doctor if they didn't have something by "gucci or vera wang". he almost died laughing...

plus i told him that army green was definitely not my color....which was greeted with more laughter....

and then i said "i could fit two rosie o'donnels and one momma cass" in here....

well that didn't help at all...

i tell ya, no sympathy, no sympathy at all....

I think the best way to solve this problem is for all of us to get better and stop needing hospitals.

Problem solved...no more droopy gowns and we all smile again!

Dear Lymetoo,

Off of the diet as per LLMD.

He is concerned about my weight loss. [Frown]

Strange thing is that I've lost my sweet tooth. [Eek!]

I am not sure if it is because now I am ordered to eat sugar.

(I like the idea of getting away with something better [Smile] )

Or if it is that my tastes have adjusted to the low sugar diet.

I cannot drink a Coke Icee (thought I would just die for one).

Cannot sit and eat pie or cake or ice cream.

Maybe just a bite or two.

I have managed to gain 1.5 lbs.

I just find it harder to put weight on than take it off.

My LLMD's scale in his office is about 5 lbs heavy.

So, I guess I weighed in at 94 lbs.

I feel pretty good though.

No yeast on the tongue at all.

Had more prior to adding a little sugar in.

I have a Rx for periactin (for weight gain),

But would prefer to put weight on slowly and steadily.

Doing protein drinks, complex carbs, extra bites of everything, etc.

Strange but to cheat a little resulted in tons of yeast.

To cheat more than a little.....well so far so good.

I am only on malarone/bactrim ds now.

Biaxin was/is giving me PVC's.

Maybe that is why my yeast load continues to be manageable.

I'm watching it carefully though.

Your poor husband. [Frown]

I can't watch anybody stick me or anyone else.

I could never have been a nurse. [shake]

I had a tech once blow my vein and blood sprayed clear across the room.

I am not sure which one of us was more shocked. [Eek!]

Hugs,

Geneal

Hey Miss Droopy Drawers, are you making a crack about my height?? [Razz] If so, I resemble that remark.....

I'd sure rather have a huge gown than a teeny one.

My hospital might be behind (no pun intended) in the gown dept, but those bills sure show up on time! [Big Grin]

At my last physical my doc had the softest, warmest gowns. They had special ordered them. They are 100% cotton knit and are SUCH an improvement over the others, especially at this COLD time of year.

Winter has decided to arrive a month early and our temps have been below the average ones for January! BRRRR!

I am rather ahem.... ample..and the gown I got when I had a couple of days hospital visit did not cover much of my rear end. Add to it being strung out on the drugs in the drip and apparently I was parading around with no shame at all.

For those who are "ample" and the shrunken gowns are airy - take a second gown and put it on the opposite way, like a robe.

As for some being overweight, infections can lead to that.

For those who need to gain weight, there are many wonderful grains to enjoy.

I'm not so sure any kind cola and or pie is good for anyone's health - unless made with far less sugar than usual. Processed sugar is still not good for anyone. Sugar from corn syrup is even worse.

Adding coconut milk soups - curry chicken coconut milk - or coconut milk tapioca with a touch of agave. Coconut milk will add pounds on very fast, believe me. I was not aware of that.

Coconut Bliss (coconut "ice cream") with agave is a good choice for frozen treats as it's hard to stop with a small serving. You might be able to have two.

Consider adding a variety of healthful foods - not just sugar. There is still blood glucose stability and artery health to keep in mind. Proteins will help add muscle weight - and strength. that is where many need it.

I was losing weight due to babesia and after a while just gave up and started eating sugary stuff (ice cream, since I needed to get calories as much as possible). It did put the weight back on but I'm sure wasnt good for me. IT was the lesser of two evils.

For some reason, like Geneal, my very long-standing candida went away so I could get away with the sugars unless I had way too much too many days in a row. I think it was due to improvements in some aspect of my immune system. Geneal has been in treatment for a long time too so perhaps this is a similar situation. We don't know all there is to know about what causes candida to overgrow.

On the other hand, I am pretty sure that sugar is bad for Lymies for many reasons besides candida.
