I have an assortment of symptoms including sweats, chills, etc. And I really have problems with the weather. If the weather is perfect, like 75 degree's with low humidity I feel much better, but if it get's too hot or too cold, my symptoms get increasingly worse.

My question "is this air hunger"? I have no idea what that term means. Could someone please explain? Thanks.

"Air hunger" is a loose description of a sensation of being unable to get a good, satisfying deep breath. It has been associated with Babesia, a co-infection of Lyme disease. chills and fever have also been linked with Babs, so you might want to look into that.

Take care,

Shaz

I feel like we need a sticky thread describing 'what is air hunger', because it's a totally terrifying experience. Some people might think it resembles an allergic reaction and might be panicking over whether they have problems with meds.

It's usually associated with babesia, but other infections can supposedly cause it (says my LLMD).

In healthy people air hunger is the desire to breathe, triggered by a rise in carbon dioxide levels in blood. In those of us with one of the tickborne illnesses, it may be a neurological issue.

by the way I'm not saying that it's a sign of neuro-Lyme, I think I've read somewhere that it may be related to some inflammation (or damage, I can't recall which) to the vagus nerve, which is often affected by babesia and other tick borne illnesses and may be connected to nausea, weird soft palate issues that LLMD's sometimes see in Lyme patients, and more.

it goes away with treatment.
