Can anyone tell me how they protect themselves when outside now that the weather is getting warmer? I got bit last April and contacted lyme and was hospitalized for a couple of weeks. The pain and fever..well, you all know. Are there lymees who used to love outdoors and now avoid it? We live on 18 acres surrounded by woods(our retirement dream). I live to get outside. I never thought I would be so afraid of the very thing I love that it makes me cry as I sit here. What to wear? spray on? I will not let this disease rob me of the one free thing I can afford. Are hasment suits expensive? Maybe the North Pole with Santa?..Oh yeah, global warming. Rats! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Kindly, Connie

prints out to 9 pages 2 columns per page! i also used on page 10 the front/back side of TICK CARD that lda has!! very helpful!

Zebco, we may all have our favorite tick repellents to discuss here.
I like TKO Orange (www.TKOOrange.com), which is derived from orange peels; it's their natural insecticide. It kills bugs on impact and keeps them away.
I put a couple drops in a spray bottle, fill up with water, and spray on my clothing. It's biodegradable so needs to be applied fairly frequently. Ok to use as long as not allergic to citrus and no cats around.
I recall a woman from NH saying a while back that she sprayed grapefruit seed extract on herself, the dog, the house and the yard, and no more ticks.
