My life insurance policy wants to charge twice as much for half the coverage my husband gets because of my Lyme disease.
Thought it was kinda ironic.
Well, at least they believe Lyme disease is real!

Hey, that's not so bad.
They won't give life insurance to many people with Lyme disease.
They know it's real.
They just don't want us to know it.
Hugs,

Yes, the insanity of this is that it isn't real when they are discussing health insurance, but it is very real when it's life insurance.
When will they figure out they can't have it both ways?

They're looking at it that way because the life insurance company most likely views it as pyschiatric, not an organic illness. Nevertheless, psychiatric individuals scare them, especially depending on their exclusion clauses (suicide, self-harm, etc.). Just because they insure you and bump premiums up, don't think they're acknowledting real Lyme.

They found out because they ask about what medications I was on on, since they show up on the blood work.

I've got 2 life insurance policies. One I was given a higher rate-$25,000 whole life and a $50,000 5 year term for a regular rate.
The whole life (rated) policy is with Alfa and the 5 year term is with State Farm.
Both know that I was treated for Lyme. Since I no longer am on any meds I don't understand why the rating is different.
Being in the insurance field myself, I think it's due to company policy.
So it might be wise to shop around for your life insurance with another company.
