Hi all.
I'm back from my first LLMD visit.
I think it went pretty well, and I came away finally feeling validated for all I've been through.
He pretty much just sat down with me and went over the symptom lists he had sent me, just asking for clarification of my symptoms.
He asked me to rank my symptoms according to what was most bothersome and tried to see if I had any kind of regular cycle of symptoms.
When he was all done with asking the questions, he did some of the same kinds of things my neurologist had done (close eyes and touch nose without looking--geez, this time I missed the first time!!!--stand still with eyes closed).
Then he said that I seemed to have a very complex set of symptoms, which made him think we're dealing with coinfections as well, especially bart and babs.
And he's a fun guy too--kept making comments about when I was normal, then he'd do an aside to my husband, "Was she ever normal?" I personally like the goofy sense of humor.
So he's starting me off with Doxy and a probiotic. He ordered some blood work, at firsst through the usual labs for insurance purposes for us (if we ever get our insurance confirmed),
Then if those labs come back negative, he'll order through Igenex.
He went over the whole herx thing with me--I told him about the episode I had while taking Ceftin for a sinus infection back in December, which he thought was significant.
So overall, I was very satisified with the results today.
At least I don't feel like a psycho hypo anymore.

I'm happy everything went well with you today and that you went to the appointment.
I pray all is well with you and your hubby too and that he gets work soon.
God is good.

That's great news!! Sounds like a keeper! I hope your test shows something... but don't be shocked if it comes back negative.

Oh yeah, bout my husband getting a job...
He's still looking, but I just got a job offer today for a temp job--
Grading PSSA tests, a 2 month job.
Of course, now April is the month I have 3 doctor visits scheduled and my son needs to be registered for kindergarten.
Haven't decided if I'm taking it yet...
Poor hubby--he said, "Well at least someone can get a job!" He's so frustrated right now.

I am glad your appointment went well and your doctor listened to you. That is such a major obstacle, as we all know too well.
Best of luck and keep us posted on your test results and treatment.

That is great news...i hope you are ready to fight like hell. One you get past the joy of validation the hard work will start. I'm happy to be your Lyme coach:)!!.
Some starting points:
Excercise is a must - i am 90% better after a 2.4 year battle....this is one of my first days saying 90% but what the hell i'll go with it.
When i say must i mean must...everthing thing on your schedule has to be moved to make this possible. You must sweat...and oxgenate your blood. Not m sayting thsis but Dr. B...this has worked for me in so many ways.
Early bed
Healthy diet- i follow weight watchers.
No Negativty( i can hear you laughng). Many on here walk the the tight rope...i stay positve all the time and allow a few hours on the weekend to lament.
Do i sound like a drill sergeant? if not i have many more tips...
I'm here if you need me. Congrats on the validation...that was a big day for me too.
Keep the faith,
Dave

Starfall,
Did you have a difficult time ranking your symptoms? I'm afraid if he asks me that question on Tuesday at my first appointment I won't remember them. I am that spacey these days.
Do you think he will prompt me or give me cues so I can recall my issues?
I did return my questionnaire and list of symptoms to him a few weeks ago.
Was it helpful to have your husband with you? Mine is going with me too, but I don't know if this will be good or bad for me.
If you care to share anything else about your first visit, I am eager to hear it. If not, I completely understand.
The main thing is that you are now receiving proper care and he listened! How wonderful!

Well, we had a family reunion. When we went to the LLMD it was me, my husband, and my daughter!! All lymies!
The doctor did ask me to stay through my husband's consult though (I was going to take my daughter out because we were there like 5 hours) because he said men don't always tell the truth!!
I wish you much luck Star.
Dave, I am starting my workout regimen next week!!

Starfall,
Glad to hear you had a good first visit.
Some days will not be easy, but just keep looking to the future when you will be in remission.
You can't finish until you start.
All the best to you!
