Oh goodness. I have such a med phobia, it's not even funny!!!
I filled my script last Friday (3/13/09) and did not want to take it on the weekend as we were going to an outside Maple Syrup Festival, and it was sunny out (side effect of sun burn from Doxy).
Monday came and I just couldn't do it. Tuesday and Wed were in the 60's and 70's (Yes in OH in March!). Today was D Day. I went to my uncle who in a chiropractor.
He muscle tested me for Doxy, I tested strongly positive. I had my bottle of Omnicef that I never took and tested good for that, but not as strong.
I then asked if he could check for allergy to it. Doxy was fine allergy wise, just slight for Omnicef.
It's been an hour and finally I've stopped shaking.

Hi Ocean,
You've taken the first step, and often that is the hardest!
Good for you! Take it one step at a time. You probably will find it will get easier with time.

congrats on swallowing your first pill. It will
get easier and when you start feeling better,
you'll be glad that you swallowed all those pills

Thanks for all of your responses...I'm blushing... haha!
Oh and you should have seen me!! I looked at the blue pill and put it down. Did some cleaning. Came back picked it up took a drink of water. Put it down. Again left and did something else. After an hour, I just knew it was now or never.
Lymetoo,
When I joined in 2003, I was relapsing with severe anxiety/panic attacks, but I was looking at LN because I thought that maybe I had HAD lyme back in the late 90's when I was really sick.
If I'd known then that anxiety and panic could be caused by Lyme, I would have sought help then (wish I would have!). And 2003 was when my med phobia started..darn nursing school, it did me in!
I'm still gonna be scared tomorrow, but I do think it will be easier. I guess I can see if I herx in the next few weeks.
Shelly,
Thanks for the tip! I'm not really afraid of choking on the pill, but I know what you mean, when my swallowing problems act up, I am terrified to eat anything. It's very scary!

thanks guys,
I think I may have herxed some, I don't know. Heart was racing this morning, hands/feet sweating. I didn't feel dizzy though. But goodness, the heart thing sure made me anxious.
I got the skipped beats too. If it's really a herx, I cannot imagine taking 300 mg/day. geez!
Course, now I don't want to take it again! Maybe I'll just stay on 100 mg for a few days and see how I do? I've had it for 12.5 years, a week or 2 of ramping up the meds isn't going to make that much of a difference!!

I don't see why ramping up wouldn't be OK. I began herxing on my first pill too.

Thanks Tutu,
I drank a lot this morning and am feeling OK now. Maybe those toxins accumulated over the night and made me feel icky this morning. Helps to know that you also herx'd on your first pill, then it IS possible =)
