Here's this week's thread. Miss Pris and I did not go to the mail today. I was off bright and early to my son's disability hearing. Now, I am going to take a nap...

Best,
Karen

Tues afternoon:

Went to second creek crossing. Set my mileage thing on the car and learned it is only 10 miles from my place to the creek.

Nice to have it so close to home, but I was a bit disappointed as I thought I was getting out of dodge a bit more than that.

Walked down the creek this time. Not sure how long I was on my feet. Rested a bit on a rock.

Tricky walking. Next time I need my hiking boots.

it is one of those trails that I would use if I were fishing for trout in the creek.

Car was parked too close to the street and I did not have treats.

But, my brain was working well enough to head back down to the creek when Rosie was not listening to me.

She followed me back down and explored a bit more and then came over and I was able to get her on leash.

I ran out of treats and have to get some more.

Lots trees around the creek that look dead. Hoping they are not and it will look different next month.

I also was dressed too warm. Time for shorts and a cool top.

I tried to go down to the creek to spash water on my arms and face but the body just wasn't strong enough to do that.

I also walked into the post office before heading out of town.

I had planned on finding a place to sit by the water while I let Rosie explore off leash.

But, was not up to driving further than I did today and I was curious what was down stream.

I had explored up stream a bit.

Next time...hopefully.

I did 16 minutes of the track, plus 6 extra laps. My shoulders were hurting, so I did only a few of the free weights and two sets of stretching.

Hi All! Glad to see that everyone is getting out and about!

Kam -- Shorts and a cool top! I am jealous! Still sweater weather here.

On Sunday, I hauled bags of stones and sand. The exercise was good for the body & the soul but not so good for the knee. It is swollen again. And sore. Oh, well.

Took Monday off in an effort to be kind to the knee.

Yesterday, I worked a double. And it was busy! Which is good for the cash register.

I think I will take today off from exercise, in spite of the promise I made to myself. My knee will thank me. I'll be back at it tomorrow morning, though.

I have taped last night's American Idol. So I will watch it tonight and the results show. I am anxious to see what Adam sings. (I L-O-V-E that guy! My Eye Candy with the golden voice!) Hopefully, he did well.

Hugs to all! Hope you are having a healthy week!

I wondered if Adam was your eye candy. I saw on the web that the show ran too long so the public missed Adam's song.

But, it looks like you can watch it on the web.

http://television.aol.com/american-idol/2009/04/07/idol-runs-long-dvrs-cut-off-adam-lambert-cue-screams-of-outr/?icid=main|htmlws-main|dl2|link3|http%3A%2F%2Ftelevision.aol.com%2Fa merican-idol%2F2009%2F04%2F07%2Fidol-runs-long-dvrs-cut-off-adam-lambert-cue-screams-of-outr%2F

Wow. What a long URL. Not sure I got all of it.

But, I did watch a short video. Couldn't really see what he looks like but the voice and song gave me good chills.

Simon gave him a standing ovation.

Isn't that weird. I DID see Adam sing! Some did, and some didn't. Very weird.

Walked 16 minutes on the track today and did two sessions of stretching, as well as some free weights. My sciatic nerve is much better since last week. Whew!!

TuTu...so glad to hear you are doing better. That must be such a challenge.

Sure wish it would go away and stay away for you.

I went out to the the place I sat and built a fire awhile back.

Did not park....the place had trash all up and down the campsites. Wasn't up to keeping Rosie out of trash.

Went on up the road and parked at the other place I had gone before. The creek was dry this time.

But, their are two creeks that come together at that point.

Walked up the one creek and it was still running nicely...but water must go underground before it hits the fork.

Found another camp area with some left over firewood.

Considered carrying back one log in each hand and do a little walking with weights.

But, it was too much for me just to stand there and hold one in my hand....I also would have had to carry across a rocky dry creek bed ...so put it back down.

All the rest of the creeks/streams still had running water.

I enjoyed sitting at the campsite. It is windy in town but the wind was just blowing the tops of the trees in the canyon.

And a bird was chirping nearby.

And the sun was nice and warm on my skin.

Cold in the shade.

But, had jeans and a short sleeve top on. First time since winter.

The sky seemed bluer also.

Also saw Elk tracks and small scat...guessing fox??

Miss Pris and I have been to the mail everyday but Monday. But that is about all I have done.

Lou, be careful with that knee! Did they ever come up with a game plan for it?

KAM, I love reading about your outings.

Lymetoo, I am so happy for your that the sciatica seems to be quieting down. I have had that twice. I remember it clearly!

I admit I am one of the few Americans that does not watch American Idol. Except for the year that there was the young woman from Glendale, Arizona. Jordan, I believe was her name.

Karen, Kam and TuTu -- You three are really doing fabulous this week. Keep it up . . . it is inspiring!

Game plan for the knee -- Avoiding surgery for the summer as my schedule just does not acommodate that. Exercises were given to me to do at home by a friend who is a physical therapist, ice after activity and at night, reiki, meditation and prayer.

As long as the damage does not get worse, I'll be fine. I have a limp and weakness, but thanks to the game plan, I have very little pain. And I think things will improve in time.

Celebrating Easter with family on Saturday this year. And then I plan to go to Arlington National Cemetery on Easter Sunday. Watch the changing of the guard. Visit some graves. Lots of walking in Arlington -- great exercise.

Where is Akin & Rocky? We miss you here. Hope you are both doing OK.

And Cathy . . . it has been awhile since we have heard from her. She has be on IVs for SO long . . . maybe it is time for her to take a little break from the IVs. I'm getting worried. Hope she is OK.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi Gang!!!

Well, I finally got off my butt and took Rocky for a walk.

Thursday-Me and Rocky 3 1/2 miles!!! Whew, I overdid it!

Like Kam, we decided to do some exploring today.

Did our usual 3 and went a little further cause I noticed a dirt track on the left-hand side of the road.

Beautiful day and lack of exercise inspired me to explore.

Went down dirt track (road for 4x4 truck or ATV) saw lots of deer and coon/possum? tracks and coyote scat.

Came upon a beautiful green meadow about 1/4 of a mile.

All would have been idyllic except for the permanent covered deer stand off to the left.

Still a fun day for me and Rocky.

He got quite a bit of swimming in.

Loved reading everyone's post. Sure inspires me to do more.

Later all!!! [hi]

ALW...Sounds wonderful...

Rosie and I went back out to the campsite. I was able to walk around a bit this time.

Picked up 4 good pieces of firewood and put them in the car for the next time I decide to build a fire.

This campground I was at looks like well used area.

But, I can only seem to figure out how to get there via foot.

Unless it is only ATV's that are using the area.

I have seen people canmping there. I thought I saw a camper but I must be mistaken because I can't figure out how to get a car over there much less a camper.

I also saw another way to get to the waterfall area.

But, it looks tricky.

Also wished I had my hiking boots on yesterday. I think I am going to try and get in the habit of putting them on.

They work so much better than just tennis shoes.

Just a few campers yesterday, but I bet there will be much more today if i head out that way...weekend.

We shall see. Hoping to go back and get more firewood.

Carried one log each on my shoulders.

kgg .. That year was one of the "weakest years" .. watch again sometime!

Thanks for the well wishes on my sciatica. It was bad again today, but not horrible.

I did 18 minutes of laps and the usual stretching and weights.

Found out that my husband can also exercise there ( I think ) so we'll look into that for the summer. We have to pay a small fee once I get thru my initial paid program ( ins pays ).

[hi] Happy Easter, everyone!!! [hi]

Sat am:

Good 2 hour outing. Started out with the flu feeling doing me in.

Rosie saw something while we were out. No other campers in site so figured it must be wildlife...

An Elk, bear, javelina...something that stands still in a small meadow

I turned and headed back to the car. Rosie followed me but still had several barks under her breath and kept looking back.

I kind of wanted to see what she was barking at. I later thought I could have crossed the campground to stand where she was and maybe would have seen it.

On the other hand....i think it is better just to get out of its territory.

As I was driving home I started to feel better.

There was snow in patches on the ground in the canyon.

And it was fun seeing the campers standing by the fire drinking coffee first thing in the am.

I go through a housing track with small new homes.

I wondered how much they were so picked up a flyer...$300,000 for a 2 bedroom home...some have garages and some have carports.

Stopped at dog park on the way home and saw some familar faces and dogs. Rosie was so happy to be there.

Then the hail/snow storm hit and we all split.

Karen,

Good to hear from you. I find that trailblazing is a bigger work out for the brain and body.

I need to step over and walk sideways on a hill or up a hill, etc.

I tried to keep it as simple as possible...started out in a dry creek bed and followed it for a bit then looped around and up and over to get back to the car.

Saw rabbit pellets, Elk scat and again that scat that I have yet to figure out who leaves it.

Guess I need to google javelina scat and see if that is it.

It is unsual when I can do a bit of trailblazing, but when I am able it means the body and brain are working better than usual.

My calves also hurt when going up the small incline. But, they recovered quickly.

I use to have some muscle in them and they could be rock hard before lyme.

So, good to feel like I am working them again.

Getting up now to go to the grocery store via the power chair and the senior van...forgot to recharge the power chair last night so hoping it will hold out this am.

Looking forward to being able to get more firewood and being in the great outdoors...possibly later today or tomorrow.

I saw lots of good pieces of fire wood on my walk last night but wasn't up to carrying it back to the car and trailblazing.

Brain and body aren't quite ready for that.

The plan is to get enough firewood to sit outdoors this summer around a campfire and watch the stars...perhaps in August when the shooting stars are more active.

Yep...looks like it is javelina scat. Got this picture from Acorn Naturalist...seems I use to order things from them for the classroom.

They are actually selling this replica of javelina scat. HA! No thank you.
