So I'm looking at movies to go see tomorrow and in the list of line ups is "Lymelife"

...is anyone else really annoyed by this film??

here's the description ... from all the interviews (of the cast) that i've seen, it's really nonchalant in the whole lyme seriousness.

i dunno, i haven't seen it but i guess after seeing Under Our Skin and knowing all the hard work they're doing to get THE REAL story out there, i'm annoyed to see this type of film be released first i suppose.

eh... whatever..

------------------------------------------
From executive producer Martin Scorsese and producer Alec Baldwin comes 'Lymelife,' a funny, biting and loving tribute to the American family directed by Derick Martini, in his directorial debut.

'Lymelife' is a story about the dark side of suburban paradise in the 1970s, and the loss of innocence that occurs within two deeply troubled families.

The film revolves around an awkward, sensitive 15-year old boy, Scott Bartlett (Rory Culkin), whose family stability is shaken when an

outbreak of Lyme disease spreads illness and paranoia around him. Scott's parents -- his workaholic father, Mickey (Alec Baldwin) and overprotective mother, Brenda (Jill Hennessy) -- are on the verge of divorce, and his older

brother Jim (Kieran Culkin) is about to ship off for war. Scott has also fallen in love with his next door neighbor, the beautiful Adrianna Bragg (Emma Roberts), who seems to be the only person in the world who understands him. Adrianna comes

from an equally troubled, less affluent, family whose uptight mother Melissa (Cynthia Nixon) is carrying on a not-so-clandestine love affair, while her father Charlie (Timothy Hutton) is slowly slipping away from the effects of the disease.

Profoundly funny and deeply moving, 'Lymelife' looks at first love and family dynamics during a time of drastic economic and cultural change.

green, you'll have to email scorsase/sp and alec baldwin how name was chosen ....

we were all upset too since it's based in 1970s before the huge lyme thing came to the nations attention.

some folks have seen it, i haven't. said tim daly had a very SMALL part in it only.

why does hollywood, etc. do what they do regardless? we will never know unfortunately.

I'm annoyed by what I've read about it thus far! Won't be wasting money on it.

I wouldn't pay a cent to see it! I'd rather give the 10 bucks they charge to the LDA....

I haven't seen it or even heard of it for that matter.

It is unfortunate that they downplay the disease the way they do.

Just remember, it is just a movie and not a documentary about Lyme.

It just happens to be incorporating that particular issue into it.

I don't think this movie was produced as a means to inform the public about our disease like "Under Our Skin". It is just a movie....mindless entertainment.

I think because we are all so sensitive about the way people look at us when we say we have Lyme Disease it is easy to get worked up about a movie like this.

Remember, Hollywood is very good about making light of a bad situation just to make a buck.

We can either choose to let this upset us or we can move on from it and get as many people to see Under Our Skin to see the real life of Lyme. It is our choice.

Just my 2 cents.

would it be appropriate to name a film breastcancerlife, or diabeteslife

i find it insulting and in extrememly poor taste that this film is entitled "lymelife"

maybe they are trying to cash in on our lyme controversy

in so doing so i feel as though they are exploiting us

i would never watch this, will wait for someone to approach me about this and use it as an opportunity to educate

Yes, I agree that the title is in poor taste.

It is disgusting that someone would use a person's suffering to exploit it to make money.

Has anyone actually seen this? I am curious how they actually portray the disease in this movie.
