........NOT!!!.......

We'll be here today for Christmas...just the two of us. Had hoped to travel to Houston today, but it's a bit too icy and snowy here.

Traveling up down and around in the Ozarks in the sleet/snow is not a good idea!

So we won't be HOME for Christmas... and of course, that is in TEXAS.

Anyone ever had chili for Christmas dinner?? [Razz]

Merry Christmas, everyone!!

Merry Christmas!

I've always felt that it doesn't matter what you eat on a holiday. It's who you eat it with!! [group hug]

Only thing better than Chile for dinner,,is chile for breakfast!!

Outside my windows are 'mountains' of snow whipped up by 50 mph winds and LOTS of snow to blow.

I was supposed to travel and go to Christmas too,,,I elected to stay home and get snowed in.

Lampoons Christmas is on all day!!!Gets old second time thru.

Think I will go thaw out a nice juicy steak for supper,,,I never eat them otherwise,no fun by ones self

I never tire of Lampoon's Christmas! My son laughs himself silly every time we play it. It's almost a family tradition!

Thanks, Acorn! That was so cute!! I'm old enough to remember too!!

The Osmonds still have a show here... but about 10 yrs ago they had a show with ice skaters. It was a small patch of ice, but the skaters could do amazing things!

I had my picture taken with Donny about 4 yrs ago.. what a dreamboat. And with all Osmonds minus Marie that same year. Got to see all 6 perform.

They have such a rich legacy.

Don... we may have steak tonight too.. that's about all I've got left in the freezer. I had pretty well cleaned out (eaten) all the food and when the weather got bad the other day, I bought some hamburger meat for chili....just in case!!

The snow here has melted from the sun even though it's still in the 20's. The worrisome part was the thought of trying to drive through Arkansas on the hills.

You know, don, the area where you guys had your Lyme float?

We'd like to take our usual route through OK tomorrow, but they acted like the roads there would not be OK for days.

We'll be having leftover lasagna for dinner tonight.

At least the boys will. I don't know if I can stomach it.

I'm hunggry, but I feel sick at the same time.

Acorn... check this out.

I saw them perform this fall with the video in the background. It was great when you can actually see the whole screen at once.

They got a standing O at the end.

Oh, sorry to hear, Lymetoo! Although, the thought of having my Christmas in our little Arkansas cabin sounds pretty cool....sounds like they got snow, and here in Indiana, we did not.

This AM, there is snow here, though! And our family Christmas is tomorrow, since several of us worked the holiday. So we still got our White Christmas!

Maybe we should start a thread on the weirdest food we have served/eaten for Christmas! We once had pizza, but better yet was the year that we had stewed rabbit!

Sorry to hear you couldn't make the trip Lymetoo.

Glad you are safe and sound though.

Hope you had a nice Christmas despite not making it to Texas.

Oh Tutu...

I was so excited when I saw the post.... and then when looking inside realized you didn't get to go. So sorry!!!

But, I am glad too that you are safe and sound. Well, one out of two ain't bad! HA!

Hope your Christmas wasn't spent being too bummed out.

Those videos were all cute!

As for the worst Christmas dinner?

The year I got married- my first Christmas away from home. We were on our way to enjoy the honey moon.

Ended up getting very lost on the back roads on the way to Florida and it was late and cold and nasty out. We had to stop because we were so tired and there were few places to stay. We got stuck getting a grubby motel somewhere in Georgia.

NOTHING was open in the little town so we could get food, much less a nice Christmas supper.

I finally located a carry out and we ordered spaghetti. I called in our order and got there and waited and waited and waited... and many people came in and out in the meantime... and still no supper!

I finally- and I waited almost an hour- went up to the counter to ask what happened.

Turns out they had been calling my name.. but it was my new married name and I missed it!!!!

Got back to the hotel... not happy at all... with the ice cold meal... only to find out we had NO silverware!!!

Finally found two plastic spoons in the car.. and mine broke after about three bites.

That is about when I decided I REALLY didn't like being married (this lousy Christmas HAD to be his fault) and I cried and wanted to go home!!!

But then he promised me I would get to see Mickey Mouse the next day.. and life didn't seem SO bad after all.

[lol]

I didn't get to go to my family gathering either and am still heartbroken. You would think that by now I would be used to not being able to do things I used to do, but this really hurt.

Better in a situation like this to skip the turkey, etc, and go with a day that entirely does something non-traditional.
