So, I woke up 2 weeks ago with a headache and it has not gone away yet. There are times when it is unbearable and there are other times when it's just annoying. I also have become quite irritable and had a nervious breakdown this morning. I feel like I can't get out of my own head/skin. I have slurred speech (like I'm drunk), typing and writing has become VERY difficult for me, and I have trouble forming sentceses and words, remembering, and spelling, simple things that I used to do all the time (I literally stared at a town I wrote down and couldn't tell if I spelled it correctly or not for like 5 minutes)! Is anyone else experienceing these things? I feel helpless, like I'm degressing.

ees3710 ,

Welcome - but sorry you have to search.

As many here cannot read solid block of type, I'm breaking up your post so that you will get more replies. The next time you post, if you can just put in more white space, that will help more people be able to read and respond.

Thanks.

ees3710,

Sorry you are having such a hard time of it. Yes, what you describe is very common for patients with lyme/TBD (tick-borne disease).

Rather than ask more questions so that I might better answer, I will look through your post history to see where you are in diagnosis / treatment and come back after that.

=======

Okay, I'm back. I see you got a PM for a doctor last week. Were you able to schedule an appointment yet?

BettyG posted a lot of good links over there for you:

Topic: LLMD Near Harrisburg PA - 24 September

====================

As for what to do now? Sorry to toss out so much here and I hope you've managed some rest before reading this.

Yes, I've had all of that you describe and yes, it is frequently seen with lyme. But it could be symptoms of other conditions, too. I assume your doctor had been told.

First, Are you avoiding ALL artificial sweeteners? Check even cough drops and tooth paste. Some of those can trigger such headaches, especially with lyme patients.

Avoid even a trace of MSG, too. Google for all the names of that. It's in many things.

I assume you are already avoiding alcohol and that you don't smoke. If you have any new furnishings that may be coated with chemicals, let a friend hold them for you.

About chocolate. Sometimes, that can trigger a headache but, sometimes, it can also relive a headache. But, as sugar is hard on lyme patients, get the very dark kind to test this out. The higher the number, the less sugar (73% or higher is best).

---------

Fish oil and magnesium supplements are the two best things that help me, really, both have been studied and show help with migraines - but also getting in a dark and quiet place. Rest is so important.

Be sure you keep your blood sugar up with healthful foods.

I do hope you can get into see a good doctor soon. If you can't, ask someone in your local support group if there are any lyme-friendly GPs who might be able to help in the meantime.

Others will surely be along with other suggestions. What I offer is based upon what works for me but, ultimately, you need to see a good LLMD to sort this out. Not everything is lyme, of course, but I assume you have reason to suspect that.

I assume that your GP knows about this already?? If you think this is an emergency, see your current GP or go to the ER, of course.

Good luck.

Yes to the headaches. I had this a few months ago during one of my attacks, leading me to believe my migraines had returned. I went to acupuncture, and it was a ton better.

--------------------
Lyme, Bart, possible Babs
Currently on IV Doxy, Bactrim, Zithromax, Nystatin, Mepron
Been on nearly every antibiotic since 10/09

About 60% improvement. Dizziness, air hunger remain.

Yes, and eliminating gluten and dairy got rid of a chronic daily headache (and other symptoms) that went on for 2 1/2 years.
