I just bought an Ecowater Whole House System and I'm now thinking I made a mistake.
What do you all use? I avoid baths because of the high levels of chlorine in our city water, which doesn't make me very popular. Haven't bathed my son for awhile, either.
I put the system on my credit card, and we have a 3 day buyer remorse law, so I can cancel.
What would you recommend? I really want something that isn't hard to maintain, I'd love a distiller, but I KNOW that I would be the one maintaining it and to that I say, "yeah, right". Just won't happen.
Please respond soon. Anyone have access to consumer reports?

There are many solutions to chlorine in water. The cheapest solution is to get a filter to filter drinking water. For bath water you could get a vitamin C ball. Or vitamin c tablets. I'm not endorsing the following product, but it gives you an idea.
The idea is to buy two or three sets. Before taking a bath make sure you have had prill stones in a open gallon jug for 24 hours. Pour the water and prill stones into the tub. Fill the tub with really hot water and wait about 20 minutes. Most of the chlorine and flouride and whatever else will be gone.
Just another thought. I've been using prill beeds for sometime. I think they are great!
Not sure why this was moved to general. Good quality water is important to get over symptoms.
A bag of prill beads is around 20 dollars. I've used them for sometime. Sometime ago my LLND recommended I start drinking smart water, because I was severely dehydrated. But, I looked at the cost and decided to find a better alternative. I discovered the doctors article above. After about a month, I was no longer dehydrated and haven't been since.
I doubt you'll get to many other endorsements. Its too cheap, too crazy to work, maybe some are worried what others will think. I just think it is wetter water just like smart water. If you try it, you'd be a pioneer. But for 20 dollars a bag, compare that to the cost of a whole house water filter.
You could also take the Dr. Howenstine (he's retired) article to your LLMD if you want a more informed opinion.

Anna -- there are several areas which are very important to wellness which may not be considered medical: the water we drink, the air we breath, the homes we live in, appropriate exercise and how best to meditate (clear and step away from all issues). All of these can be done cheaply if need be, and yet they can be expensive. It just seems a consumer report like review of these things might help a lot of people make better decisions.
It would be great if we had some way of pointing to the ultimate topic for water and put all the info there. It could answer the question why aquasana versus brita, if we are talking water. Prill beads versus whole house filter.

I'm sorry if I challenged you Anna Lee (and other moderators), my LLMD is the one who is recommended I get out of the chlorinated water scene. . and consider bathing my son more often.
So, I felt like it belonged in Medical. Poisoning from water is > or = to poisoning from Amalgams and cadmium, and I suffer from all of those.

Peacemama. I agree with you also. There is a fine line as to what is and is not considered a 'Medical Question' and there is no rule book to follow. Will I guess correctly each and every time? No. If it were up to me personally, this post would be any place you wanted it to be.
