Today my husband had to take our 15 month old to the ped because she has been having a fever. The doc knew I had been sick so asked how I was. My husband said I haven't gotten better but we fianlly got a diagnosis of lyme disease. Before my husband could say anything else the doc asked was it a good diagnosis or a bad one. My husband asked what do you mean and the ped went into this whole spiel on how crazy llmd's are and how it isn't true blah blah blah. When I got lyme I was pregnant with my 15 month old so it is possible she has it and he already doesn't agree with my treatment so he wont go along with testing her especially since he doesn't believe it can be passed down to a baby.

So we are going to try and get all of our kids into a new ped that my friend goes to. Her son has lyme, got it the same time I did, and their ped works with Dr. J to treat him. I am hoping she is willing to take us on, I guess we will see.

Anyways, I am just so disappointed because we have loved this ped and he has helped us with two of our special needs daughter when no one else would. We just can't stay with someone who wont help.

Sorry this is so long I just needed to vent and figured you guys would understand more than anyone.

I too am going to ask my ped if they will test my kids, I know the oldest has defo had the bulls eye and treated....not sure what it was or how long as way way before my dx, then I fear I was infected before i had my youngest as i had rmsf, lyme not tested and didnt know, again not realizing how all this worked, neither show any symptoms but I would rather know now. I truly expect them to say no believing the "that cant happen" route......and like you what do you do then,,,,i hope you are able to get some resolution and answers.....

Thanks! I think if I were you I too would get them tested. Seriously what can it hurt. I wish more docs would stop going based on what insurance companies want.

Sorry to hear this! I agree you have to move on.

I would at least send this dr a copy of the documentation that it CAN be passed to the child....I'm pretty sure there IS some.

It may help another child.

I had already had both of my children tested via Igenex.

Both positive. Both congenital Lyme.

Our ped, who has been present at borth of their births

Looked at the results and said "Oh good they're negative."

That is because they weren't CDC positive.

Both had Lyme specific bands.

My answer to her was that I was just too sick to educate her on Lyme and Western Blot testing.

She kind of alluded that the children's symptoms were probably them emulating me.

I informed her that if my child had a heart problem

I would consult a pediatric cardiologist.

This, I noted to her was not her specialty.

I thanked her for her time, but ended the visit with a remark

That I would not be discussing any treatment my children may be getting for Lyme with her

As this obviously was not her area of specialty.

We still see her. I still like her.

She has never asked about my children's treatment.

I've never offered.

Both of my children are off meds now.

Was kind of a tight rope to walk for a while.

I understand your anger and disappointment.

However, as your main goal is to get your child tested and treated,

Try to channel your energy into that right now.

Realize that most doctors don't understand and just don't want to.

Shame on them, but now you know where your child's doctor stands.

By pass her on the way to wellness for your baby.

Hang in there.

Hugs,

Geneal

Sorry your little one is feeling sick. Darn it all.

I do want to also say that the problem with your current ped is the GARBAGE the IDSA is putting out there.

The more we prove them wrong.. the more underground they go and try to get more followers for their unproven and floundering theories.

Your doctor was just made the fool in this situation by listening to the IDiots. Her patients will regret it ... but I doubt she would admit she is wrong... so my best advise is to just move along.

Find someone that can be open enough to see both sides of the situation before it is too late.

"Realize that most doctors don't understand and just don't want to."

It amazes me that health "pros" with doctorate degrees are + CHOOSE to stay so ignorant.

We are moving a long as I want more in a doctor. I know it might be crazy wanting that but I don't want a doctor who doesn't do research for themselves and believes what ever the insurance companies want them to believe. Thank you all for letting me vent. I knew you all would understand. I am so thankful I have found this site!

My daughter's test came back CDC postive, and the peds doc looked me right in the face and told me she did NOT have lyme. I decided at that moment that I would not be back.

I didn't argue with you or try to convince her. I just paid my money and left.

I refuse to see a doctor that is that stupid.

Hope your babies get well soon.

My daughter starts treatment at the end of this month.

Peace...Christie

Caseyk,

I got my Pediatrican to test with Igenex and
treat with abx until I could get into the
LLMD. I took Dr B guidelines and talked with her
until she understood how serious this could be.
She even admitted to how epidemic this has become.
But I would move on to some one who will work with you if your Dr. will not.

That is great that there is a LL ped. that will work with Dr J in your area.

Both my sons are/were tested and treated
for Lyme and co-infects. too.
