Oh, yeah. depression and insomnia are a huge part of it, at least in my case. My sleep was and is all screwed up. Going from not being able to sleep to sleeping all the time. Not too bad these days, I have a hard time falling asleep (brain won't slow down), after I get to sleep I am OK. Still need a couple catnaps through the day. Take care. Don.

Your brain not slowing down is also a sign of depression. I was taking an anti-depressant (can't remember which one) and a prescribed sleep aid. Had to stop. Way too many crazy dreams. You might try a mild OTC sleep aid to see if it helps.

You may wish to ask your LLMD about low dose ativan to help you fall asleep, and Klonopin to help decrease all that brain stimulation. It can make for a good nights sleep, and at low dose,no hangover effects in the am. You also may wish to google these meds to see how they affect the brain at a different angle than antidepresent, or hypnotic(Ambien). I hope you find sweet dreams!

Magnesium and fish oil are good supplements to help the brain calm down and, in turn, help to lift mood.

Those are easier on the liver than most medicines and you may do well with those first. An overwhelmed liver can contribute greatly to depression. So can adrenal exhaustion. Both go along with the toxicity of lyme.

From a previous post, I see you are soon to being treating with IV.

Your LLMD should have a list of supplements for you. Here are a few links:

This is included in Burrascano's Guidelines, but you may want to be able to refer to it separately, too:

It was a homeopathic remedy that treated the physical depression of Lyme the best for me - it's called pulsatilla 12X - just costs a couple bucks. You could try a consult with a homeopath.

We're all different when it comes to sleep aids. For me, 25mg benedryl works just before bedtime.

Regarding homeopathy and how it can sometimes work exceedingly fast with some lyme symptoms:

I've been near suicide more than once. Once, when falling into my naturopathic's office she immediately gave me a homeopathic treatment from gold, Aurum metallicum.

Within minutes, the deep cloak had eased and I could go on.

Of course, each patient is different and a trained homeopathic doctor can best figure this out (some naturopathic doctors are also trained in homeopathics).

Such doctors also can help with the vitamin and nutrient deficiency that often leads to depression (among all the other reasons lyme toxins create a depressed state).
