A new month. As the saying goes, March is coming in like a lion where I am. We got about four inches of the white stuff last night and very windy. Everything is pretty and clean white this morning. As much as I would like to see it go, it is very nice to look at.

I am hoping to recapture my bedroom today. And part of the kitchen, trying to get ready for demolition and cabinet install. So it will be time on my feet but not much more exercise than that.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Karen

C'mon spring!

Good luck getting things accomplished today, kgg. Take it easy though and don't overdue!

I am shocked and amazed that I went skiing with the family on Saturday. [Eek!]

And I did pretty darn good for not skiing in two years!

I quit a little earlier than everyone else but managed a few GREAT runs. It felt so good to feel "normal" and spend time with the kids and my significant other.

Sunday I was a bit sore but not too bad.

Not doing much today. Had some lab tests to do this morning, a couple of errands to run, and am now relaxing on the couch with my wonderful heating pad.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday. [Smile]

wow skiing!!! good for you.

kgg remember to rest when your body says! easier said than done sometimes !

I was able to walk to the bus stop today 2 x.

I forgot to put my pain patch on before bed time and fell asleep with out it! [Eek!]

I woke up in tears could barely crawl over to the safe to get meds. holy cow. they must be working. which I am grateful for.

I got a call from my pm office today saying they could do trigger points and emg on my legs tomorrow instead of waiting till the 30th. SO that is good. A nice surprise.

the only negative thing is that I have to go again the next day for med management! Its an hour drive so It is kinda stinky to go back to back days.

Have a support group meeting tonight. I am a concerned about it. I have someone coming to show an alternative treatment to the group. I dont want to get into it here, but I am not into miracle cures. The reason I did is I thought it would be unfair to keep the info to myself but have a feeling it is likeley a scam. I sure hope I didnt make the wrong decision.

kAREN...recapturing your bedroom and the prep stuff for the kitchen is work and sounds like a good thing.

May we have the luck of the Irish this month.

While channel surfing for a short bit heard about the desert expected to bloom next week...cool.

Wishing I had what it took to go see. One area they mentioned is about an hour from here.

Go Topaz!

Mon am: able to do a short trip to the grocery store via the tram and my power chair. Cruised home in power chair this am instead of taking tram back.

Then slept an hour as it wore me out. Good to be out doors

Irish Blessing....

May the road rise up to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

And the rains fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

by visiting this site I got inspired to get on the tread mill.
the only way I can stand the darn thing is to be online while I walk.
I have a piece of wood attached with duct tape across the handles just below the console.
It think it is an inch thick and just a litle wider than a keyboard.
I set my keyboard on it
the keyboard legs keep it from slipping.
plenty of room for the mouse
my monitor is on a lazy susan so, I just swivel it to face the treadmill
I don't walk very fast.
I don't care.
Any exercise I get is better than none at all.
I haven't exercised like I need to for almost a full year.
My doctor keeps giving me crap, which I deserve.
I'm diabetic and my blood glucose is way up which is bad
I feel bad about myself so i eat to feel better.

My goal is to get on the treadmill every day this week.
Monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday and friday morning before I see my doctor again.
I can't change the past, but I can do my best just for today.

Thank you all for being here.
I'm tired after 36 minutes at 1.5 miles an hour
I feel as if I have had a successful day.
I needed that.
I was with lymegirl having a pity party for myself until I got here.
today, I don't feel well.
I realized that if I wait for feeling good, I'll never exercise.

even if I do ten minutes tomorrow that will be bettert han none.
yay yay yaay

Wow. I am impressed Bug Barb. You figured out what you needed to get yourself moving.

Mon evening: Went to what I call the Phoenix tree and sat on a fallen tree.

My mind wanted to go further but I also had to keep in my mind I needed to walk the distance back.

I also usually sit on logs that are just the right height. This one is a bit higher. it took me awhile but I recalled how i use to get my but up on the tree.

Guessing the outing was 20 min. Then went to the ma and pa health food store for some eggs.

I wasn't doing so well there. I got that sea sick and Topsy turvey feeling.

Ok now, that I am laying down.

I was thinking on the way home how difficult it is for people to see or doctor's to measure/test weakness, sea sickness, pain, etc.

And how difficult it is to figure out how much we can do without putting ourselves in harms way.

Hey kam, how'd you find a picture of me??! [Big Grin]

I love hearing about your outdoor outings.

BugBarb, great attitude! I'm a believer in baby steps. Just be careful not to overdue it. We have lyme and can't do what those without can do...remember that! When you are well, you will do more.

Merrygirl, you've got a lot going on! It's good that you have an open mind and are willing to at least go to your support group and check out the alternative stuff. No saying you have to do it if it sounds fishy!

Wow, you guys are starting out the week with a bang!

Me and Rocky walked 2 1/2 miles today and both of us are limping.

Both of my knees are hurting and I think it's time to call my endocrinologist and see if the joint pain is from my HGH injections.

Rocky's paw was giving him some problems too. [Frown]

Am gonna tone it down for the two of us.

See you all later!

Welcome, Diane! Lou also used to tell us what fun she had with the Wii.

I was not a couch potato but neither was I too active. I had two appointments and worked in the kitchen for a while. We finally saw the sun today for the first time in I don't know how many days. Too many!

Aklnwlf, go easy. Wow, you get hgh? Good for you! Hope it is not the problem as most think it is beneficial.

Bugbarb, be careful when first starting out exercising again. Some times it is good to start every other day. Giving your body time to rest. Hey, I think it is good to even think about exercising. So good job!

KAM, your outings sound fun. You are right, it is hard to measure those things. And sometimes even more difficult to discern what is safe. So go slow! =)

Merrygirl, I agree with Topaz. Keeping an open mind. But we do need to be discerning too. When we were going to have a speaker and it was someone the leaders were not aware of, we would ask for some references. Most reputable people who were not out to scam people had them. Meanwhile, good for you that you are running a group! It is rewarding but takes quite a bit of effort.

Take care all!
Karen

Got on the treadmill again. Yesterday, I stopped because of pain. Today, I stopped because I was tired. Time really flies when I multitask..(when I have my computer facing the treadmill and I am typing/reading online). The trick is to NOT look at the elapsed time. Also, I am going really slow. When I was doing the treadmill before, I was up to a good 2 miles per hour. Now, I'm at 1.5mph.
The important thing is.....I am walking.

I have promised myself to do it every day until I see my doctor, even the day of the appointment. I felt like crap again today. I slept until 1130am. Usually I get up around 9am. I had no energy and my head felt foggy. Did the treadmill anyways. I don't feel any worse than before I walked. Best thing is itis good for my blood sugar 'cause I'm diabetic. I really need to walk every day just for my blood sugar.

Now, LP, how could I NOT comment? =) I am very jealous. We have lost a lot of the snow and I can see my garden. But there is no way I could plant right now. Amazing what 200+ miles makes, huh?

Thankfully, my energy level is better today. I will not be exercising per say. But will be stair climbing as I have a massive mound of laundry to work on. So that will be my exercise.

Glad to hear you are starting slow, Barb. Keep up the good work!

I think I did too much today. I ran errands and grocery shopping today and have not recovered from spring cleaning all day on Monday. My neck is so stiff.

We had snow all day yesterday,it quit around 4pm.
All my bulbs are coming up and now I think they are in shock. Third time this winter we had snow!

We are lucky if we get it once a year.

MDW, you had snow in Georgia yesterday?? I know it was cold here in FL, but I didn't realize you guys got snow again. We've burned more wood in the fireplace this year than ever before.

Took Logan, our sheltie, for a nice walk today... I tried a treadmill once, but was very dizzy each time I got off. Fortunately I live in the country with plenty of quiet road.

Also did wii bowling with my hubby. He won, but in all fairness, he also did an entire game warmup before I got there. Unfair I say!

Glad to hear the flowers are coming up in New England. Sure sign spring is on the way.

Proud of all of you for not giving in, and getting some exercise when you can. I know it's hard, but you're a great group!

yes, it snowed the whole day! can you believe it?

Today I went to school and had lunch with my 8yr. old grandson. Lots of fun. Came home and my neighbor needed me to dog sit for her a couple hrs. Have to go back tonite for three hrs. Then I walked up the big hill to pick the boys up from bus stop. First time I did the BIG!!! hill
in two weeks.
My knees are really bad, they crunch when I walk.
All and all a good day with pain.

How fun Diane! To be able to go to school and have lunch with your grandson. I am always exhausted when I am around kids. And climbing the big hill with knee pain. You had quite a day.

Yesterday, I did 7 loads of laundry. Today, I cleaned a bunch of stuff that was piled in the hallway, vacuumed and dusted my son's room and went to the grocery store and Walmart. And when I left Walmart I remembered that I did not buy what I went there for! [Roll Eyes] Hate when I do that.

where is everyone? i did my stress test and didn't die!!

they said they didn't see any major blockages and they let me go so guess i am ok.

its embarrassing how poor my stamina is tho...i don't even want to post how soon i got my heart rate up.. it surprised me cuz i am worse than i was the last time-and that was 3 yrs ago before i got my new knees. i am so much more active now but my stamina is worse. i don't get it.

i think i am going to ask for a PT order to help me improve the stamina. but i wonder if it is a lyme thing that my body just doesn't improve even tho i am walking everyday and for 5 months i was spendng 3-4 hrs at the barn and riding. i was out of breath a lot of that time and had to stop to rest in the middle. if a body was working right you would think that would increase the stamina.

i'm trained in this stuff-masters degree-but maybe the brain injury stuff is making me miss something

LP, that is what my body feels like. I know I am deconditioned. But the stamina thing is something I have always lacked. Of course, I have had this since I was 10 so I am used to being a wimp. =)

Glad to hear that you passed the stress test OK. Don't need to deal with any thing else right now.

I was a couch potato this afternoon after vacuuming the upstairs and washing some pots and pans. Have tried not to go up and down the stairs more than a few times today. Just don't have the leg strength.

This weekend is supposed to be beautiful here. So I am hoping for some outside time.

But for now, finally able to get out on the trail near home.

A feeble walk but nonetheless

5 min, rest, 5 min out.

Hey gang!! I forgot to post!!!

I walked a mile on MWF and the usual exercises. I did too much on Mon and my neck was killing me. Too much weight when I did my arm exercises and then I pushed a heavy cart thru Wally World ..ugh..pain...

I'm Ok now.. pretty much.

kayak.. I'm getting my brakes done soon. You know where I live .. well, sorta... it's VERY hilly here.. hard on the brakes!!!

Spring is coming here too!! It's actually above freezing tonight!! and in the 50's or 60's over the next 5 days. WOOOHOOO!!

Good job, BugBarb!!!

Much love to everyone!!!

OH... a bit of news... My husband portrayed Simon Peter at our Wed. Lenten Service. He did a GREAT job!! I didn't know he had dramatics in him!!! He's a musician...but still... amazed the heck out of me!! He gave a 5-6 min first person talk of what it was like to deny Jesus 3 times, etc. Really good script written by our Pastor.

I'm still doing my isometric stuff. It really makes a difference. Nice to have muscle strength and toning going on.

Looking forward to Spring and getting out and about walking, jogging and riding my bike. [woohoo]

Well I made it through another week, proud that I

conquered 7 days. time to start a new with:

smiles and frowns

moans and growns

pain and tears

and a "I think I can, I think I can attitude

choo-choo!"

Diane..so true...

Finally! Able to go for my walk in the forest and have moments of enjoyment.

5 min in, rest on log, 5 min out...crossed one creek that was flowing a bit more than usual due to rain and snow off and on today.

But, able to see the rocks I need to cross it even though they were under water.

Rosie was a happy camper leaping across the creek like a deer. Boing boing

Sounds beautiful kam. Do you go alone with your dog?

Just worries me with so much going on in the world today.

Your trip reminds me of this place I used to go in Illinois. Starved Rock. Water falling off the rocks, creeks to cross, and cold water holes. So very pretty and peaceful.
