Hello. I was diagnosed with Lyme/Bartonella in March 2008. I was on medication for just over a year. I went into remission in July 2009.

Last week, I lost my job and had to deal with the associated stress. Unfortunately, I think it might have triggered a flare. For a week now, I've had lyme symptoms resurfacing (hard to breathe, head pressure, neck/shoulder tightness, lightheadedness, feeling like I'm in a dream, etc.).

I started to take the cat's claw and bromelain that I had previously taken, thinking that this might help combat any rising infection.

My main question is, can a flare up be brought under control without antibiotics? Is there anything that I could do to to get back to normal?

The good news is that I'm no where near as sick as I was the first time around. However, I don't want to risk going back to that awful place.

I'm going to call my LLMD tomorrow, but am wondering if anyone has had any success with managing flares.

Thank you so much for your support! I truly appreciate it!

I think most people here would say get back to your LLMD as soon as possible.

If you put off.. that good news is going to be bad news.

I take freeze dried garlic as my antibiotic...
so far 6 a day.

I have not been in treatment long enough to give
you an answer on the flare up control.
I would think that you are no longer in remission, my oppinion.

Take care of yourself.

Diane

Hi Diane,

Thanks so much for your reply. I'll be calling my LLMD today.

Just the thought of again going through what I went through before is awful.

Freeze dried garlic combats infection? Wow. I hadn't heard of that before.

I wish you all the best and hope that you are feeling better soon!

Remember the stress is controlling your immune system right now. So do everything you can to help your immune system handle this stressor.

Imagine the body on high alert. Calmly give it all the love you can give it. Easier said than done?

Hi Pam,

It really is easier said than done...lol! I really appreciate the advice.

I've been exercising daily to work off that nervous energy. I see the LLMD on Tuesday, so I just have to take comfort that I'll soon be on my way to treating the flare. [Smile]
