This is a very interesting article that points to studies which show that people with low cholesterol have less immunity than those with higher cholesterol. Many Lyme patients have low cholesterol. Whether a low fat diet causes this problem or whether the lyme germ cause low cholesterol...who knows

Hey daystar,

I am trying to recall (my brain is almost catching fire here being overworked) some information I read years ago about Lyme needing cholesterol (?) and/or high cholesterol being more protective for us?

Ugggg... I can't believe that information is sitting there in the brain some where and won't come together right now.

I am hoping you read it too and can clear that up? I feel like a ding dong but can't think tonight.

I do remember it being said that it was "ok" that cholesterol was higher in Lyme patients, and often it was.

Maybe your article here is explaining the reason? It makes sense to me anyhow.

Guess I should have just stuck to doing housework tonight rather than trying to reply and make any sense ... but you'll be happy to know that even though I have no clue what I am talking about....

I like you MUCH more than those dishes waiting for me in the sink.

[lol]

Thanks for sharing this information. My cholesterol is not real high... but it is slightly above average so I do not freak out about it. But some folks I know who have chronic Lyme have very low cholesterol levels. Interesting.
