We've all done it. This will pass. Forgive yourself. You are only human, and what is that vs. cake, sodas and tamales?!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well today.
BUT-
It may have happened anyway. There are these crazy ups and downs with lyme & co's.

A celebration for your son's birthday? Go easy on yourself.

You over-indulged. Honey, you've been deprived, I can't say I blame you. If you'd allow yourself to eat something sweet, say, every other day, in moderation, it would help with the binge-thing.

Balance is the key: balance, balance. I know it may not work for everyone, but allowing yourself a little luxury takes the edge off. Why not get those sugar free candies? Remember Splenda!

I say allow yourself a luxury, but not in excess.

misfit,

It's ok. Today is a new day and a chance to start over again!!

You will feel better as the sugar, etc wears off and it will remind you how much you don't want that stuff again!!

I completely understand!!

(Not sure if I told you I am Nanie46 from the PH board)

I still have trouble accepting that certain foods make me worse instead of better. It is a learning process.

But, I do know that if I stay away from certain foods I am not as sick.

Others on this board can eat and drink whatever they want and do OK. Nature of the beast.

Oh hey nanie...im back on the wagon today. Been drinking tons of water trying to flush this crap out. My daughter asked me if it was worth it and my response was an emphatic NO! I wont do that again. I didnt want my son to eat cake alone. Next time ill watch while he eats. I know FOR A FACT that sugar is my enemy. And yall...dekrator is the reason i found out i have lyme. I owe her big time. I wish others "elsewhere" would take her words to heart. She has that eagle eye watching and posts just the right links and info to get one started on the journey. Shes so dedicated. Awesome lady!

Misfit, this same thing happened to my daughter a couple of days ago. We went to my favorite italian restaurant for my birthday and she decided she was going to eat what she wanted.

After she ate those tasty rolls and pasta, she was crazy acting. I said something to her just jokingly and she was crying and all mad at me. It was awful

I know now that she HAS to stay away from gluten. I'm more than happy to buy the expensive bread and gluten free products.

Hope you got all that junk out of your system.

misfit,

Thank you for your kind words, but it is you that I must congratulate...for being very open-minded on the PH board...and considering that you could have Lyme as the cause of your symptoms.

It is very difficult to convince anyone that they should consider lyme when they already have their CFS or FM diagnosis.

There are others on lymenet that were on PH also and realized they had lyme and related coinfections.

The carb battle is rough for me.

It kind of made it easier after I got candida pretty bad a few weeks ago. Now I am happy to stick to my diet just so I don't have to feel like that again. [Smile]

I still cheat once in a while, though I generally regret it.

What I want to do, when I have a spurt of energy once in a while, is invent appealing recipes with almond flour, stevia, and things I'm allowed and encouraged to eat, that I actually WANT and could have when others are having cake, etc.

I made chocolate cake with almond flour and stevia, and for a little while I ate it every morning for breakfast with fresh strawberries. That felt decadent. [Smile]

I know sugar alcohols are not so good for us, but the cheesecake and chocolate with those in them taste like the real thing, so I don't feel like I'm eating fake diet food if I eat a little. It doesn't bother my blood sugar or cause my candida to flare.

The other thing is, forgive yourself for your lapses. They are going to happen. Be glad it was for a happy occasion and not because you had some trauma and got depressed and ate cake and soda because of that. Also, if you give yourself permission ahead of time to eat one piece of cake, maybe you could eat that one without feeling guilty and thinking you already messed up the diet so you might as well eat more. (Doesn't usually work for me, but it has once or twice.)

Good luck, and feel better, and happy birthday to your son.
