I've been searching for a success story that will give my 19 yr-old son hope.
His story is this:
Started with joint pains in May '09, slowly spreading over the next year.
He has enthesiitis in both shoulders, costochondritis at both sides of the sternum, pain in both hip flexors, and some pain at the back of one knee.
He is Igenex IgM CDC positive. He is with a LLMD rheumatologist Virginia since April '10.
He has had 6 weeks of oral: Biaxin, Omnicef, Vancomycin followed by 5 weeks of IV Invanz
He's got a parasite, cryptosporidium parvum and is being treated agressively for parasites with a series of drugs, alinia, stromictal, biltricide, and others.
Lots of supplements, theralac, saccramycies boulardi, chlorella, a zillion others.
He's had some chelation therapy, and IV detoxes.
He seems a little less fatiqued, but no change in the arthritis.
We think he's had the lyme for years, but it was masked by taking minocycline from 2005-2008 for acne.
Who knows? He's neg for all the co-infections. but was possitive for other stuff that causes arthritis. And he's HLA B27 like all of my family and I have 4 siblings with serious reactive arthritis and three of them have Chrohns
Has anybody really recovered, and gotten rid of the arthritis? He was a high level athlete who had been recruited to play at college next year, and obviously that is not happening.

'Can' make a world of difference. takes a month or more to fully kick in. Your mileage may vary.

I am on the west coast, with a west coast strain, so do not know if this info will be of value to you, but I am able to take down my joint swelling with clindamycin. I did 150mg 4x/day in the beginning and now do 150mg 2x/day.

My wife started out with Lyme Arthritis. It was crippling her and not slowly either.
She never had a positive test, but she had the Deer tick, the bulls eye rash and about every symptom that says Lyme.
I was forced to treat her myself and after trying a few things settled on Rife type frequency treatments.
You can see my post under success stories, as she is now symptom free, and has no more symptoms of Arthritis. So yes, it is possible to get rid of Arthritis caused by Lyme, but you have to kill the bacteria in the joints, which is hard to do. But it can be done.
I may have to treat her on and off, just to make sure it does not come back, but that is a small price to pay for her being healthy again.

My wife also had lyme arthritis. She did antibiotic only treatments.
Doxy -> Doxy/Zith -> Zith/Mepron -> Zith/Ceftin
Really saw the best results from the zith/mep phase through the zith/ceftin. She is symptom free today.

I had joint pain in my knees and fingers. It's gone now along with all my other symptoms.
My daughter also had knee pain, which is gone.
Some joint pain can be from mold exposure, I think smaller joints? I did have mold exposure.

i'm so sorry to hear this.
my sister, ya'll know, has rheumatoid in her hands. she says she cries every night. her doctor has now told her it's in her legs. she's got 7 more years to work.
why oh why won't people listen? i'm just the crazy old nut case.
she's on tons of steroids, gold treatments, lots of drugs and they aren't working.
i know she's going to be completely crippled by this, but nobody will listen.

The very basic rule of curing Arthritis is to kill the bacteria causing it. It does not come out of nowhere, and it can be eliminated.
Low Dose Naltrexone is another method used to kill the bacteria. Especially when used with Alpha Lipoic Acid. It will be more painful at first, as the immune system kills off the bacteria, and then gets much better.
Check out Dr. Burt Berkson's treatment for Arthritis and other diseases.
There are ways to deal with this, but often the answer is not what you would expect.

Dear Mary, Here's hope! I've had Lyme arthritis for much of two decades, but much less trouble with that now. I had big problems with both shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and my fingers.
I'm still exhausted due to Babesia duncani, but less arthritis pain. I haven't needed NSAIDs or narcotics since using Curamin by Terry Naturally. (I WISH i received $$$ from the sale of this great supplement!) A friend bought me a bottle this Spring, before I met a LLMD, and now i make sure i never run out.
I suggest you challenge the idea that your son has no co-infections. That'd be rare in the D.C. area! Have you sent a sample for Bartonella testing to Galaxy Lab in NC? Maybe draw from the fluid on the back of his knee?
A systemic yeast overgrowth can also cause major problems, including arthritic symptoms. Has he ever had jock itch or athlete's foot? I hope he is on a strict Gluten-free, sugar-free, Candida-control diet and ready to stick to it for years to come. (It will impress girls in college!)
About your sibs w/ Crohn's disease and arthritis: Maybe Bartonellosis is the cause?

I have lyme arthritis as well. I couldnt believe how excruciating it is. I made the dietary changes per dr b's recommendations and it made a drastic difference. Now i have days where id describe myself as "sore" but its not that crippling pain that had me bedridden. I hope your son gets better!

Wow. You people are amazing. It's too late tonight, and I can't think. I'm going to re-read, think and answer tomorrow.
For short-- clean diet (hey dinner was turkey burgers, beet greens and salad- strict no gluten, extremely low starch, no dairy, no sugar. He is obsessed with the diet.)
Lots of detox, including IV, chelation IV, he's in his 7th week of IV antibiotics (6 weeks Invanz and now Tygacil).
We're exercizing (pilates/yoga/ballet bar work) and hot baths for more detox-- also chlorella, burber, and a million other supps from the doc.
We're fighting off depression-- he was recruited to play a varsity sport at college this year, and now he can't even go away to college...
