I think it was CSI, one of those types, the other night.
I turned it on when the wife was being questioned about her husband and she proceeded to talk about how his behavior had radically changed leading up to his death. He was so much more aggressive and paranoid, more angry.
I sat on the couch thinking "lyme". The next segment was an autopsy discussion finding nothing remarkable, a clean bill of health. At that moment someone walks in and slaps some papers on the desk and says, "not that healthy, he tested positive for Syphilis". Bah, hah. I slid to the kitchen for a drink mumbling "I knew it was a spirochete".
My goodness, even cousin Syphy is less harmless and gets the credit. Hard to believe the Ducks can't imagine Lyme to be so deadly.

- If they think Syphilis creates a puzzle with brain damage, they would be blown away by Borrelia's effects and complexity.
----------------
Syphilis has 23 genes where Lyme has over 250. Borrelia can also insert its DNA into that of a host. Mitochrondial damage is another whole topic.
GiGi Posted this From Scott's notes of recent Lyme Conference:
Dr. K believes that comparing Lyme disease to syphilis is misleading.
** Syphilis has 23 genes where Lyme has over 250. **
It is like comparing "cabbage with a dog". Borrelia is a far more evolved organism.
He posed the question, "What if these bugs could exchange their DNA such that the gene responsible for producing a certain toxin was transferred to harmless bacteria in the oral cavity or in normal gut flora."
It becomes clear that these microbes are highly intelligent.

OMG.
I just came back from a five day road trip, meeting my sister in Sandusky, Ohio.
I'm wiped, but I missed you guys.
Keebler, that's alarming. That's so dog gone scary it makes me wanta hide under the covers. I guess that's not gonna help much since I'm an "ex" lymie, and I'd be taking it with me. It does really sound like germ warfare when you put it in that perspective. :shake:Kinda all wigs me out if I think too much about it.

Me too, Tutu.
Thanks, and more hugs for saying so.
Unfortunately, I caught something from my son (I think) and am starting to feel yucky. We stopped at a walk-in clinic when we hit town because he was unwell and the doctor said his inner ear and sinuses were alarming.
I keep thinking "did we bring a little arachnid home?" ....ticks are arachnids, right? Anyway, we are climbing into bed and hoping this too shall pass.
Sweet dreams-
