I feel like I am never going to get better. This disease has taken away my life. I am no longer able to work and barely leave my house because I am so tired all of the time. I keep cancelling plans with friends because I do not feel well. Just taking a shower is becoming a chore. I feel guilty about the burden I am causing on my husband. It is like he married an invalid. I just want to be healthy. So sad.

Hi Manynaps,

Sorry you are not feeling well. You did not say what and how long you have been treating.

Some days are worse than others, but with proper treatment you will get well.

Low iron may cause fatigue and of course Lyme and the co infections.

Do you have a LLMD?

Hang in there [Smile]

Maybe you are hypothyroid too. Lyme attacks the thyroid, maybe because it likes lower body temperatures.

It can be difficult to find a good thyroid doc. You might want to check the lymenet archives for previous discussions of hypothyroidism and testing.

I have been undergoing treatment for almost two years for Lyme Disease after having symptoms for over 10 years. Co infection tests came back negative. I am currently searching for a new LLMD. My treatment has included:

3 months of Doxycyline 100mg twice daily
6 months of Biaxin/Plaquenil
2 months of Amoxicillin 500mg three times daily
6 months of Doxycyline again 100mg twice daily

I am currently on Tetracycline 500mg three times daily.

I take Milk thistle, magnesium, probiotics, multivitamins in addition to Tetracycline

My tests for iron and thyroid have recently come back normal

I feel like I am going crazy, especially with the depression, anxiety, brain fog, and fatigue. Sometimes I wonder if all this is 'in my head' or if it is actually real. I take Cymbalta 90mg for depression and Clonazepam as needed for anxiety. I just want to live a normal life.

Bartonella causes anxiety. Labs are not reliable.

Good luck

Thyroid testing is tricky, and you need someone who is better at treating hypothyroidism. You want to be checked for free T3 and free T4 and you want the results to be in the upper end of the range. TSH is not a very good indicator. Some lyme patients have trouble converting T4 to T3, which is the active form. So you could have high T4 but low T3. Or low on both.

Sorry to harp on this, but thyroid treatment is hard to get right, and many docs do not know how to do it.

You did not mention food. Are you on the anti-inflammation diet? That is, no sugar and no white flour. No fake sugars either.

I think I started getting better when I did this. Also, read Dr. B's info on nutritional supplements. You may be able to switch around on your supplements to help with the fatigue.

I've been where you're at so I know you can get better. Fatigue sucks.
