Hmm - do you have the Cuisinart ice cream maker?
I'm not sure if you can make it with just vanilla almond milk and stevia or something like that.. maybe it won't bind enough but maybe worth a shot?

Yes, get an ice cream maker and make it yourself. You could use any milk you want and stevia and/or xylitol.
Basic recipe: 3-4 c. milk, 3-4 eggs, stevia and xylitol to taste. Then add cocoa, vanilla, mint extract, fruit (frozen is good), PB or almond butter. whatever flavoring you prefer. You can add an avocado or some coconut cream/powder for health fats. Blend it all in the blender, then pour into your ice cream maker. I buy farm fresh eggs and we eat them raw all the time, but if you're not comfortable with that, just leave them out. They do help make it creamier, but the coconut powder and/or avocado can help with that to.

Follow jlp's recipe! Because sugar-free stuff from the grocery store is going to contain aspartame, splenda, or sugar alcohols. None are good for you.
Sugar alcohols (found in sugar free cookies and candy) can also cause yeast... I found out the hard way.

xylitol is a sugar alcohol. I think it's fine, but if you are concerned with it, just use the stevia. Add it very slowly; it doesn't taste good if you get too much.

- There is no good sugar free ice cream or milk on the market. None. I've looked for years. Most are with artificial ingredients.
Even the most healthful soy or coconut alternatives have way too much fruit juice for human consumption. The calorie count it through the moon for what most consider a nice serving.
You can get an ice cream maker or make a frozen berry slushy with ice cubes from almond milk, etc. Still, many can't manage berries.
You might want to make a coffee slushy with iced coffee (decaf) cubes. Do not pour hot coffee into plastic cubes, though. Cool first.
Any human body can only consume a small amount of any sugar alcohol before gas and stomach pain hits. Be aware of that.
For me, xylitol also increases tinnitus. I'd stick with stevia but also it may be best to just switch to slushy drinks for your cold fix as they can contain more water (along with some almond milk, etc.) and stretch the time you can enjoy it. Too much almond or soy milk really can pack on the pounds. -

Cashew cream frozen desserts have no sugar and no dairy in them. I have tried it and in my opinion the taste and texture is very similar to ice cream. Actually, I can barely tell it apart from regular ice cream.
They sale it at our local health food store. But I don't know if all health food stores sale it or not. But you can order it online and they will ship it to you frozen. It's more expensive that way though.
Anyway, here is one place that you can buy it online.
Though, it is sweetened with agave nectar and according to Dr. Mercola certain kinds of agave nectar aren't much better for you than high fructose corn syrup. But it may depend upon the specific type of agave nectar.

- emla,
That sounds great, especially for a Christmas or New Year's treat.
I can't seem to find the nutritional labels anywhere for the frozen desserts. Do you know now to find the link for that?
I like to see the nutritional breakdown (calories, protein, sugars, etc.) and also the list of ingredients as on the label. Thanks. -

Agave is definitely sugar. If you're off sugar, you would want to be off agave as well.

I just got an email alert from Williams-Sonoma about their sales -
Here is the ice cream maker I was referring to earlier.. I'm not sure how to make the link work on here though - just type in "ice cream maker" in their website search box and it is the one for $39.95 (comes in white or red)
But it's a ONE day deal -ending today so if you want to order it you have to act today!
My mom has this brand and it makes great ice cream..

This is the one I have too. What's really nice about getting the one from Williams Sonoma is that it comes with 2 bowls, so you can make 2 flavors in one day if you want. Otherwise, you'd have to take time to refreeze the bowl between batches.
