I read this and for some reason it jumped out at me, not sure why and not sure exactly what it means.
If Lyme disease is diagnosed in its early stages (erythema migrans), it can often be treated quickly and successfully with oral antibiotic treatment. If there are other symptoms, the patient may be admitted to hospital for further investigation and possible further treatment with antibiotics. In cases of chronic Lyme disease a more holistic approach is often required to restore the patients health. In these cases functional/integrative and alternative medicine approaches are arguably more successful.
Not sure how to translate this.. but this is what my gp keeps telling me.. So do I look for a Holistic doctor which I have found or a LLMD?

The way I read that is, it might mean you need a more holistic approach because chronic Lyme folks need help with detoxing methods.
Someone with acute Lyme probably wouldn't.
The longer you have it, the more "clogged up" your system probably is, and you'd need to turn to alternative ideas for dealing with that. Just using antibiotics would make you even more toxic because you aren't detoxing, and regular MD's don't know much about helping someone detox.
That's my take, anyway. I could be wrong.
Some LLMD's also use holistic approaches in addition to abx's. Mine does.
It all depends on how much an LLMD knows about helping someone detox, and how much a holistic doctor truly knows about Lyme.
If I were faced with your decision, I'd go with the LLMD, and if he/she doesn't assist you with detox methods, you can get those ideas here and do it yourself.

I think your gp is telling you that chronic lyme doesn't need ongoing treatment of the bacteria, rather a holistic approach to rebuilding health. Sounds like he goes for the idea of "post Lyme syndrome", the stance that chronic infection doesn't happen.
There is some truth to what he says about needing holistic care for the body, but you can't just ignore the infection.

phyl - that sounds like a quote right from a doctor who does not believe that chronic lyme exists. Do you by any chance remember what the source of that quote is?
If your current doctor believes that... I am glad you are going to find an LLMD.
For my son - I have an LLMD and a naturopath who does muscle testing. She knows more about the supplements, the energy of the body, and natural healing.
For myself - I see the naturopath... but I am still looking for a doctor. I believe, with a complicated disease like this, you need both.
Keep the appointment with the LLMD!
If you feel you need guidance with supplements and you find an NP you can trust... then you can see both of them.
There is strength in numbers!
