I haven't really felt well enough to post in a while, but I was so irritated today I just had to vent. Sorry but here goes.

I watched that show "The Doctors" today. What a bunch of idiots! I hope I'm not offending anyone, but these are four stupid doctors. They have this girl on today with dystonia.

Never heard of it before, but I notice it looks a lot like late stage neuro Lyme. This poor girl is twitching and having the worst muscle spasms, kind of like Mandy in Under Our Skin. Before I even heard what was wrong with her, I thought Lyme. I don't think everyone I see has Lyme, but sometimes I just get a gut feeling about people.

I'm sure that's the same for some of you, too. So this poor girl gets diagnosed with dystonia. It's like a syndrome, like all the other ones that basically no one knows where or how you got it.

Here's the irritating part...how do they try to fix this poor girl?? They do brain surgery!! Are you kidding me? These four idiot doctors are all exited about this brain surgery to possibly help this girl. No one in this whole group even considers the fact that an infection, of some kind, could be to blame for this neuro stuff?

Sorry this is so long, I'm making up for lost time [Smile] Then who comes out...Montel Williams who talks about how he'll try anything to get rid of his MS. Somebody tell me, what is going on here?

I had to get this out...who else gets the lunacy of all this but us???? OK, I do feel a little better now. Thanks my lyme friends.

I know. I saw it too. The only thing is.. She appeared to be feeling fine otherwise. She appeared to be healthy.

and yes... Montel has been discussed many times here regarding Lyme. He's also been contacted about it.. to no avail.

Isn't she the one who got dystonia from a flu shot?

I wonder if she was ever tested for mercury.

This is what some say>>>Sometimes dystonia is but one symptom of a more pervasive disorder that affects the basal ganglia, such as:

■ Parkinson's disease
■ Huntington's disease
■ Traumatic brain injury
■ Stroke
■ Brain tumor
■ Oxygen deprivation
■ Infections, such as tuberculosis or encephalitis
■ Reactions to certain drugs
■ Heavy metal or carbon monoxide poisoning

i saw the episode because when i saw the previews i thought i would hear about lyme.

of course that didnt happen.

as far as "the doctors" they are sooooooo stupid! i try not to think that about others because im not exactly a genius but those people are flat out idiots.

the woman dermatologist is BY FAR the worst. she goes on my list as one of the biggest imbecillis ive ever seen in any situation in 30 years of life!

i love how they always talk over each other because they all think there so important and smart. the md profession is one that attracts or breeds ego maniacs.

Didn't see the show, can't comment on the girl's case.

I can comment that I think a lot of doctors are too busy and overworked to keep up on research that they really ought to know - and in a flurry of activity, end up following the advice of the day from their respective professional medical associations because it is fed in small, digestable chunks.

The whole system is overburdened, and the good doctors suffer along with the bad.

LLMDs have been worth it for many people because by and large, they will sit down and talk to patients and listen. They won't be dismissive of your symptoms and rush you out the door. A good LLMD will look at everything *including* non-infectious causes for your symptoms for rule outs.

This is a good thing, but at the same time, *all* our doctors should take this attitude on - even with limited time.

If you want to go into a profession for money, don't go into it unless your heart is in it. If you don't want to be a good doctor, go out and be a good lawyer, good engineer, or good stockbroker and stay the h--- away from me as a patient. You can make good money elsewhere.

Thanks.

My own LLMD is pretty good. Not perfect, but very experienced, and reads the research out there. And my own primary care doctor is pretty good but rushed - but trusts my LLMD makes the right decisions in terms of things out of my primary's league.

I've also known a few specialists who believed Lyme and coinfections can be persistent or relapse and are hard to beat. These were mainstream, non-LLMD doctors, and they were decent people; they admitted the issue was outside their expertise. Humbled.

Other primary care doctors and specialists I've known are not good for me and not supportive of the possibility Lyme and coinfections can be hard to beat.

I also get occasional reports of LLMDs who are not the best doctors and are not good to their patients. Rare, but it happens. Some of them aren't even real LLMDs but lay claim to the label to market themselves.

I think everyone has to trust their gut and ask questions, because there are good LLMDs and not-so-good ones, and good primary care physicians and not-so-good ones.

You can find allies if you look for them - and people who will not be supportive - all over the place.

Another stoooopid doctor story...

Watching an episode of Mystery ER this morning.

The woman has classic symptoms of Lyme, but nobody can figure out what is wrong with her.

They threw out diagnosis's of Ankylosing Spondilitis, R.A, CFS, Epstein Barr, etc.

10 years later it all comes back even worse and she's in the ER. They call in an infectious diseases doctor and he orders all kinds of tests, and even said "test her for Lyme".

Then the next scene is, "Well, all of her tests are negative. It's not any of these things".

They ended up clinically diagnosing her with Still's Disease "after ruling everything else out". They even said Still's was probably caused by a microbe, but they never said anything about her taking antibiotics.

They just sent her home and told her the secret to getting well and staying well is to be happy.

WTH?????????????????????

These doctors ruled out Lyme because the test was negative, when it's a disease that is supposed to be clinically diagnosed. Instead they clinically diagnosed Still's and told her to go be happy.

I no longer watch the Doctors because these people have the opportunity to bring it to the publics attention that we are dealing with what IMO amounts to something equivelant to the plague of the 1800's... Yet nobody is publicly willing to telecast this information. COWARDS!!!!!

I also feel the same way about DR. OZ... the fear monger who tries to instill fear in all women about what they might have.. He specifically focuses on womens fears and capitalizes on them. He even had the opportunity to elaborate on Lyme disease at one point and simply skimmed over the subject.

We should boycott these shows and not allow them the forum to express their biased point of views.

Of course this is just my opinion, but I no longer watch any of these programs. They have no value to me.

I agree, Dr. Oz seems like a nice enough guy, but every show seems to be about obesity. That's a problem, I get that, but his inept and incomplete coverage of Lyme is unexcusable.

lululymemom is right, it really is like the plague, I think we can't even comprehend how many have died from Lyme. So many mis-diagnoses, my aunt finally (miraculously) had a positive western blot after 20 some years of RA, cardiac issues, OB/Gyn, and endocrine problems. Shocking still, one doctor after another merely treating symptoms. So sad.

That's pathetic.

I agree Steve. And sometimes the Doctors talk about sex and even "private parts" just to improve ratings. The one on PP was really gross and stupid. A waste of time.
