First I cancelled two days ago to get the picc put in, then I was advised that it would be best to do it.
I went yesterday. Horrible and painful. The tubing was to dry to weave in the opening and I believe it took 2-3 different tubes ./
The numbing was so painful. Guess the needle went in deep. I got so ill laying there. Then I sat up and drank OJ. Had to lay down again. Eventually they got me a bed and I went to the room.
When I came around, I just wanted to get out of there.
Had first infusion today. This went well!

So sorry your experience was less than fun. I had a chest port put in and they gave me happy juice....just not enough of it. I remember a lot of pushing -and I was bruised for awhile. It seems like whether a chest port or picc, every dr has their own way of putting it in.
I am glad your infusion went well. That is an important part. Be good to yourself, what we are going thru isn't easy.

This does not happen to everyone. Probably goes best when done by a radiologist.

Even though it was a difficult insertion, I'm glad to hear that you were able to go home with a PICC and have done well with your first infusion. I hope that you have a quick recovery from here on.
If your arm feels achy or sore you use a warm compress 20min on 20min off and that will help relieve the pain. Ibuprofen can be helpful too. You may also want to baby the PICC arm for a few days so that the site can heal fully.

Lyme, yes, doxy x 10 days, but only 100mg, not enough to kill anything, I believe. And I mentioned this to the medical office nurse!
But I only got Rocephin---- lmg. (l0 CC delivered at lCC per minute).
Hope this is enough! I'm tired of fooling around with my life.
Thanks everyone for your words.
Was very weak and tired today. Slept most of the day. I am watching my arm very carefully and I will continue to. Taking no chances.

HorseHelper, please verify the dosage of your IV Rocephin. Typical dosage for Lyme is:
2grams once daily 7days per week or
2grams twice daily 4days on, 3days off per week.
I don't want to alarm you but I want to make sure that you are being treated properly.

Yes, I'm alarmed. I rec'd this information, actually, after it was installed.
Infec. Disease Dr.---- It was mentioned to me that perhaps she may be concerned about the herzing too. I believe they go by weight of person for the proper administration dosage.
Thanks,
