Please, calling all LLMD's. please do not test us the same way Dr. House did by blowing up a guys heart to see if he had Bartonella infection!

Hello?

Dr. House, next time just run the little test from Igenex that they have just especially made to test for Bartonella.

I had it done, and it was quite simple.

I tested positive, was given Rifampin for a couple of months, and lots of the weird symptoms went away,,,esp. the psychological ones.

So , anyone else watch House tonight? I haven't quite finished because I was just so shocked at the blowing up the heart bit, I just ran hear to chat about it with all of you.

I used to watch House and couldn't miss an episode until it got more bizarre.

His eccentricity was part of his appeal, but when the cast changed I didn't like it as well.

Just wondering-- if anyone watched the whole thing-- was he accused of murder for doing this? [Smile]

Or, was the heart just inflated?

Did the patient have lyme and bart or just bart.

At least now, maybe some people will know I'm not just making up a disease called bart if I mention it.

Don't look to Dr. House to get accurate medical information.

I think Hugh Laurie is kinda sexy, but the guy doesn't even know how to give an injection.
[Frown]

I stopped watching the show.
It seemed like everything they did was for shock value, including the gratuitous sex between the characters.

Their portrayal of nurses is lacking.
Did you know that the way to decrease mortality (death) for the patients is to increase the number of registered nurses caring for them?

Licensed Practical Nurses and nurses aides do not know how to assess the patients like the R.N.'s do.

House is a moron. He'd kill 75% of his patients if things were done his way all the time. And 100% would suffer unnecessarily by his methods, even if they did survive. His team, friend and boss are the ones who save his ass and steer the ship .

Intelligence, sure. The ability to apply it sensibly and correctly often? Not.

Thankfully it's just a TV show, although there are many doctors who are at least half as bad in reality. They kill a lot of patients too.

I used to watch House all the time before I knew what was wrong with me - trying to match up any of my symptoms with each episode, but then they would be something really wacky (like dying from rat urine)..

But eventually got diagnosed so didn't watch it much anymore..

I love House, he's such a jack_ss. I did see the Bartonella episode. They sewed the Aorta back up just in time. Whew...

But yeah, it's just a silly show, but I love it.

No regard for the patients life, no regard for how someone is going to pay for the medical procedures or tests.

The best was when he jammed a syringe into someones belly to get a urine sample from the persons bladder. Ever hear of a catheder?

As a concept, House is quite an interesting TV show. In the real world, he would have been sued for malpractice several times over, no hospital would want him, etc. etc.

I watched a couple seasons, but as with most episode-driven TV shows, it gets too formulaic for me after a while.

i used to watch it but then his vicodin addiction got too much.

he's a looser and his patients are lucky they're still alive.

personally if that group protected him in real life situations, they'd all be fire or sued.

and a hospital director who dresses like a streetwalker is just a little too much. i've worked in the best hospitals and no one, NO ONE, ever dressed like that.

I saw Hugh Laurie in a Masterpiec theatre classic movie on BBC. He was great. He is a really great actor, and I am sure actors take work where ever and when ever they can.

I did not like the way that they deal with House's pain issue. They make it seam as if his addiction to pain killers was his fault and they seem to try to get the message across thatif he would only just take the pain then he would be a better person.

I am in excrutiating pain all the time. It is a huge disability for me. I try to distract my self all the time, but I at times end up screaming on the bathroom floor from the pain.
My husband has been at my side the whole time, crying along with me because he feels helpless.

I was a very tough person who never took tylenol's or anything. I never drank or had any type of vice. I was very disciplined. The told me I was just depressed and the pain was my imagination. The pain got worse over the 2 years, and I went to the emergency room because of the pain.

I am still in so much pain, but it is improving.

I also had Bartonella. They do not portray it correctly, and I was n't better over night like they make it seem on the House show.

They also burned the guy from the inside on this episode! THey make the show very sleazy and I can't stand it, but I am always very curious about what disease and symptoms are going to be on the episode.

Then I get so sick of all the sleaziness and shock value, that I go months without watching it!

It used to be a much better show. I have started to write to these big networks and begged them to stop putting all the soft porn in all these shows! It is so disgusting!

For all here who are looking for real acting and really good quality shows and movies, watch Masterpiece theatre. They have old-fashioned shows, mysteries, modern movies----everything!

Then if anyone wants to PM me to discuss the latest masterpiece episodes--feel free!!! they are so good!

My friend has 2 English degrees and she was the one who told me about these shows! Sometimes the epsiode/movies are 8 hours long and run over a matter of 4 weeks.

They did a fabulous movie about Anne Frank. It made me cry like crazy!
