(wait for it) SLEEP! I had more wires attached to my head, shoulders and feet than I ever dreamed. Some kind of stickum goo in my hair, able to hear the man in the next room snoring. Right, sleep test.
Then around 1:30 am I get woken up so a CPAP can be attached. At first there was so much air coming in I could barely exhale! It finally got adjusted then I tried to drift off.
Suddenly the amount of air was adjusted down (after about an hour) and I thought I had broken something. Oh - that's normal?
Finally drifted off and then at 5:30 it was time to get up and take off the leads and stickum pads. I'm pretty sure I lost some epidermis and four of the 7 chest hairs I had.
I have a feeling I will sleep much better in my own bed tonight. No idea when the results will be made available to me.

OH boy.. sounds like a lot of fun!!! keep us posted!
Seems like they wouldn't have put the CPAP on you unless you had shown a need for one....????

sleep studies are awful. My friend had one done in her own home, not sure how that works.

Also they dont usually put the cpap on during the study unless your apnea is significant.
I suspect you had apnea or they wouldnt have put you on.
Good luck

Because the VA is paying for it, they did several different tests. I was tested for my heart, sleep patterns, whether I have apnea or not and restless leg.
The man administering the test said this is typical of the VA - hit a bunch of tests at the same time and see what happens.

Oh, how I remember that crazy, fun time with all those wires sticking out everywhere and my hair sticking up and out in every direction and that awful glue.
I went through mine for nothing. That was before Lyme. Doctor said, "borderline narcolepsy," which made me laugh, lol.
I was sent on my merry way to try the next test, and the next and the next, until I was properly diagnosed with LYME DISEASE!
I am the sleep QUEEN, and I have never in my life experienced a refreshing sleep, so I was truly hoping for answers.
And I was NOT woken up to put on the machine, so it does sound like they are thinking apnea. Let us know...keep us posted!

Hi there,
Just commenting on TxC'= TxCoord's test since I [his wife]was there in the room at the sleep test clinic w/him.
VA ordered several things done in one sleep test. We were told that the CPAP was to be used, and the mask would be put on at -2:00- a.m. Pretty common for VA to have ordered this test.
We were surprised that the Tech came at 1:30 a.m. to install the CPAP mask rather than at 2:00a.m. as we were told.
So we are really curious if sleep apnea is an issue for TxC'. we know that the heart arrythmia is still occuring it showed on the sleep test.
