I'm a newbie to Lyme and am actually still awaiting my test results. I went in to get the blood drawn yesterday. In the mean time, I was wondering if it's most common when people start treating Lyme that they get worse before they get better? Or are there people who just got better? I'm just thinking ahead to what I might be in for if it turns out that I need Lyme treatment. Maybe I should start researching short term disability or something.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking based on what I've been reading here in the forums. I'm hoping, since I'm not yet as severely affected as others, that I might not be as miserable, but I should be prepared just in case. My employer was very quick to shove short term disability papers in my face when my knee swelled up a year ago and disabled me for a while. So, I would imagine that's the way I'll have to go.

I agree with Lymetoo--hang on as long as possible. I am struggling with the same issue and have become worse. But I hang on because if I go on short-term disability, what's the guarantee I will only need it "short-term?" What if we're even worse at that point and wished we'd held off a bit?

I am working and have Lyme, treated for Babesia and Bartonella.
My husband had to help me out.
He has Lyme, and now he is working 60 hour weeks to help pay for our bills.
Because our daughter has Lyme.
If we quit work, then no meds, no appointments, no nothing. WE would get sicker and sicker.
It is torture to work everyday, but maybe it is helpful to be forced to move a bit.
They say that we are suppossed to keep moving.
I dunno.
I am in extreme pain, but the days that I have to move aren't as bad as the days that I rested in bed.
I have been getting treatment for 18 months and really sick for 4 years.
All that moving, housework, yard work, planting trees in my yard (700 seedlings, yes, I checked for ticks, and yes, it was stupid of me.), painting the house, painting the garage, etc. etc.
and working full time,,,
and hey! I am still alive, it didn't kill me, even though I spent a lot of time crying and screaming and crying and crying and crying and wishing I had enough money to hire maids, homecare, and quit work!
