Randibear, I just posted the question on lymenet under "seeking a doctor": who is an LLMD (Lyme Literate MD) in my area and I got three lists from three people and chatted with them afterwards. I now have an appointment for September 15 with a doc that sounds promising for me. It was not that hard. About 3 months wait - some had 6 months wait some don't take new patients. Does that answer your question? Good Luck! Harmony

Well good for you, randi. One step at a time. You've had some serious GI issues and I hope this doc can help.

It took a number of years to find a doctor who had enough stuff between the ears to listen, hear what I was saying, and not just pass me off to the funny farm. And then it took another 4-5 years to get in with a doctor who was Lyme-Literate, because I had no idea what Lyme really was all about, or that Lyme was a major issue for me. I stumbled into my current Lyme-Literate doctor by accident...wanted to get my immune system issues dealt with and wound up with a diagnosis of Lyme and a huge learning curve (I'm still on that steep learning curve, too)...
