Just wondering what others do to keep gerd away for ever? With friends like that you dont need enemies.

I know I am SO weird. Alot of it seems to be caused by electric motors,,,being hungry or being over tired.

If I am chewing on something it helps big time. Lately I have used hard butterscotch disks to serve the weird symtom

Driving a car or pickup sets it off.

like a certain Nisson Versa sets it off bigtime but a small Ford pickup it is much milder.

In the past I have tried every med known to man,,,none ever helped a wit. Up to 4 Acifex a day once.

I dont recall what helped me years ago. I always take a Wal-Zan every day(walgrens version of Zantac)

Cant tell if it helps or not.Anybody have even goofy suggestions OR sage advice???????

The only thing that works for me is Nexium.
Also.. avoid anything acidic. I can't even take Vit C.

Maybe yours is more of a structural problem since the vibration sets it off.

im on omnepprazole now and keep trying to stop but cant as long as i need the ibuprofen

occasionally i get sx if i eat late or eat bad...and it sounds crazy but i have found that chewing 6 whole almonds will often take the pain away

also...eating 1/2 and apple after each meal often helps keep sx from starting

sometimes i do have to sleep in recliner instead of flat

Don,

I just read that eating a bannana can soothe the digestive track and cut the acid within 30 minutes. The article said to eat one every day.

Let us know if this really helps, or was it an ad from the bannana industry trying to hock more bannana. [Big Grin]

Maybe this really works? Worth a try. Hope you feel better

Isn't apple cider vinegar a cure for that?

If not how about drinking aloe vera juice?

I USUALLY EAT 1/2 oops...a banana a day for my musc spasms and it seems like they sometimes cause the gerd...not positive tho

there are some published "ways to stop gerd naturally" with foods...maybe google it.

i ordered a program once and the apple and almond part worked for me...the program is on a dead computer of mine or i would share it...its possible it was on LN long time ago

My LLMD recommended I read "No More Heartburn" by Dr. Sherry Rogers- actually covers the whole digestive system. I'm almost through reading it.

My dream is that after the Lyme and co are treated the reflux will go away or at least be treatable without Rx meds. In the meantime I'm starting with DGL before meals.

Later I'll try digestive enzymes again - but not the ones my doc prescribed (Zenpep) because the pharmacy said my part would be over $300! With insurance! Over $600 full price! That's 1 month's worth.

This info may not help ya but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case.

I've also read that bananas are sooting for the GI tract, also sweet potatoes. However, I am allergic now to bananas due to my leaky gut which is caused (at least in part) by H. Pylori, Yeast and heavy metals and food allergies. It's a chicken and egg thing as food allergies can cause leaky gut and leaky gut can cause food allergies. KPU is also involved in all this as KPU can cause leaky gut.

That being said, I believe that finding the underlying cause to your chronic gastritis would be the key. I had many blood tests for H. Pylori that were negative and then finally had a stool test through Metametrix and I had/have it. It can be very resistant to treatment and chronic.

Do you avoid coffee, chocolate, vinegar (except organic unpasteurized apple cider vinegar), and anything acidic? If you google Gastritis Diet you could probably find some useful tips. Some that come to mind are Slippery Elm, pure bismuth (can't buy otc, otc has too many additives), aloe juice. I have some links I'll try to find and post them.

Have you ever had breath test for H. Pylori? Have you ever treated parasites? Another thing that comes to mind is what specifically about driving cars sets it off? Is it the fumes? That happens to me as well. Do you avoid dairy and gluten?

FYI, H. Pylori is slow growing so the symptoms can go away and creep back up. It can also be transmitted between partners. My husband is also exhibiting symptoms. We are waiting for his results to come back and mine to see if my treatment was successful which I don't think it was and my doctors warned me this would probably be the case. I felt much better at beginning of treatment but now not so much again. I have been bad about avoiding foods that agravate gastritis though too.

Had a friend with bad gerd problems. No one, including docs, could figure it out, making it a challenge for me. I love a challenge.

Turned out his pier driving rig (engine) exhaust pipe had been taken down at one point and not put back up. While he was working, the carbon monoxide was hitting him almost in the face (odorless & you can't see it).

Once he put the pipe back up to disperse the fumes over his head and way from him, the gerd went away.

Yes, I know, I'm cool, just like the Fonz. HA!

Knowing you are multi-talented with gadgets and motors and all sorts of things you work on, could this be a possibility? Do check to be safe please!

Otherwise, a small swig of pepto bismol may help? I know, I know. It is easy, simple and cheap- seeming TOO easy to be able to work.

But, I'll suffer with various gut things every once in a while (2 X a year maybe), and FINALLY will remember what helped it before and it works every time!

What can trigger my episodes are the artificial dyes and/or maybe flavoring added to foods? If I avoid them I seem to have fewer problems.

Not saying any of this fits your situation, but thought I'd toss it in the mix for consideration.

The only other thought is trying the L-Glutamine that you can buy (powdered form only- NOT the pills) in health food stores in the muscle man section (weight lifters use it to build strength). You mix a Tablespoon of it in water, stir well and drink once a day. No taste, color or smell, so easy to do.

L-Glutamine is what fixes leaky gut by repairing the gut lining and it also strengthens muscle linings (sheath), bladder lining, etc. My thought is the area affected by gerd and the organs involved may be damaged due to yeast, antibiotics, Lyme, and age (sorry) and this may help repair them.

IF you decide this may be an option...

Take it for about a month to 6 weeks. If it will work, you should know by then. One bottle should be all you need to purchase.

If nothing else, it will build up muscle tissue, gut lining, etc. and you can be a superman again!

Feel better soon!

[Big Grin]

What you mentioned about being hungry is also a classic sign of gastritis and/or ulcer. Especially if temporarily relieved by eating.

I get the impression that you are in remission based on how much you are able to work? Did your LLMD address metals at all? Metals, leaky gut, yeast, KPU are all intertwined.

I also get terrible heartburn from exhaust and fumes. My hairspray also does it to me. I know I shouldn't use it. Next on my list of things to eliminate.

Oh! BTW, bismuth (pepto bismol) is often used as part of quadruple therapy for H. Pylori. It actually helps kill the H. Pylori and sooths the stomach.

The L-glutamine in the muscle man section sounds like a good idea too. Maybe before starting any of this request an H. Pylori breath test though? I felt so much better after starting treatment.

I thought I couldn't tolerate abx anymore b/c my stomach was such a mess. Turns out I needed abx for the H. Pylori which was causing my stomach to be a mess.
