Insurance sucks. They can approve it now, then afterward change their mind (after using the meds) and leave you stuck with the bill anyhow. It is impossible to know what will be covered or not, even when they tell you in advance.
Never trust them.
Knowing what I do now, I think I'd go for it (use insurance) earlier rather than later. To ask them to pay for it after you've received the "recommended treatment", when supposedly it is not needed and we have nothing to prove it is, would be a harder sell in my opinion.
If they pay for some now, it COULD (?) be extended if needed, with a fight. If it isn't then that is par for the course.
Being a new company, if you lay low and don't jump up and down about anything, it might go thru?
But then I've never been able to understand the slimes, so don't depend on my advise please.

One more thing...
The IV provider is usually experienced in getting the bills paid, better so than patients, because they want the business and will fight to be paid. So if it were me I'd let them handle it.
