I did the test with baking soda to see if I have low stomach acid levels
i didnt burp AT ALL after taking the baking soda. not even a whole 45 minuets after. ive been having alot of symptoms of low stomach acid for a bout a month now (burping shortly after eating, stomach discomfort after meals. lack of bowel movements/ constipation and diarreah)...
over the weekend i went and bought HCL with pepsin. i took two with a grilled chicken salad. felt fine. then i took one with a few cookies later on. then i took four with dinner.
i know i was a fool to take that many on my first day but i figured it was fine to up the dose since there were no problems
well later on that night my stomach area around my belly button was on fire!. so i stopped taking it for a day and started again today. i just took one with a high protein meal earlier and my stomach burnt for an hour and a half then felt better
i just took one and a half with dinner. (chicken and rice) and now its burning
I just dont understand. i have such LOW stomach acid....why is the HCL bothering me. im taking a low dose.....maybe i should wait a week before taking it again. I really dont want to wait a whole week to take it again bcuz i know I really need it and im already in discomfort as it is without taking it because I have LOW ACID
someone please help. im feeling really upset with this.....

- It burns because it's acid.
And, perhaps, because you took six capsules the first day. (Did I read that correctly?)
Then the next day one that burned but again another and a half later that day?
Breaking open the capsule can damage your throat and esophagus lining as you swallow the powder.
Be very careful. this is acid.
It's always best to start with just one a day for at least a full week before increasing and, sometime, with no increase.
One capsule may be all that is needed for some. Or none. Even with low acid (which is really hard to confirm), HCL is clearly not for everyone.
I could not take it, either, after a couple different tries and will never, ever, try that again.
I'm not convinced I have low stomach acid and, IMO, if it causes pain, it can be very dangerous to try again.
There are many other ways to help the stomach and the stomach lining. Many other ways that are safer and soothing.
you said you had some cookies? Hmm. with wheat flour? If so, going gluten-free may be the very best thing for your stomach right now.
the sugar can also hurt stomach lining.
Not sure that the absence of a burp after baking soda means much. I certainly don't trust that kind of "test" -
I hope you have a LLMD guiding you. Please do not take any more HCL. It seems to be burning for you. Take care. -

- Did you see the replies from the same question you posted two days ago?
If you want more replies, you can just advance the original thread instead of having to post a whole new one.

good ideas here. Trying to get all your thread on this topic together so you don't loose the replies. -
