Are you sure they are both same size?1 and 7/8" or 2 " are most common. Small for small light trailers

big for heavy regular trailers. the super duty trailers are 2 and 5/16".

YOUR tongue hitch may be bent or tweaked,,,or just wore out. You can use just some common grease from a grease gun or wheel bearing grease from a little can.

Smear some up in the frog area,,,bad thing is the ball will be greasy and soil good clothes. they make a plastic cover for that

I never grease mine for that reason. Make sure your lock down works good and has safety clip in.

if your trailer is pulling or pushing hard on ball by how you parked all,,,its very normal,a smidge of grease will slide right out.

wd 40 drys out and disappears too fast,,,and grease attracts dirt and dust. Maybe a new tongue part is easier and better

.
You can also cover a greasy trailer hitch with a paper cup.
