"A second patient was treated for a headache, but Gutner failed to recognize side effects to the patient's nervous system of the medicine he prescribed. Also, the doctor used a less than adequate dose of an antibiotic for a possible Lyme disease diagnosis in the same patient, the settlement said."

- I'm not so sure this is going to have much effect other than have the doctor learn the IDSA errors.
So, instead of no treatment and totally ignoring lyme, he will learn to give inadequate treatment and then dismiss it.
The training he is required to get will be from the IDSA. -

Removed a black lesion and didn't send it to path??!! Good grief! Unfortunately, we're all too familiar with the inadequate treatment for Lyme. And Keebler is right.

I'm so glad he is taking a 'refresher course.'
We should all feel much better now.

- linky,
appreciate the justified sarcasm. Yeah, a "refresher course" with the IDSA for lyme will have him clocking out within 30 seconds.
Little do they know that it can take YEARS for a LLMD to acquire their knowledge base & hone their skills in diagnostics and the variables of treatment.
The least the court should make him do is attend a full 3 day ILADS conference with and pay attention, IMO.
And pigs will fly. -
