About 5 minutes ago TWC did about a two minute blurp on ticks and LD because of the hot weather. Unfortunately they had a duck telling folks that most people present with a rash (not) and a tick has to feed for 24 hours (not).
I sent them an email and suggested they contact an LLMD or ILADS as IDSA dr.s are vested in keeping the info from the public.

Txc' And I were both so disappointed when the report had such blatantly erroneous information...
"It takes 24 hours of tick attachment to spread the bacterium for infection called Lyme disease and everyone has a prominent bulls eye rash ...", and all that... 'We Ahhll bundle...puppy?!!' BS...Arrgghhh

Darn it all!
Several years ago a Dr. Ann (?) did a piece on Lyme and it was much better! I contacted them back then and asked if they would, providing them info to use. So sorry this ducky report was so stinky, but glad you contacted them about it.
Bet it will help! Sometimes they do listen! For example, and I am still really surprised about it... and I know, as the kids say- Mom, you need to get a life... but anyhow...
I contacted the Weather Channel during this last hurricane to alert them to the Mississippi dam possibly getting ready to break that I'd just heard about on a New Orleans TV station.
A town official near a state park had contacted the New Orleans station by cell phone (communications were bad) but they wanted everyone to evacuate immediately- thousands of people were in the danger zone.
When I flipped back to the Weather Channel Jim Cantore was talking about some downed tree limbs and not even mentioning the possible dam break.
I was REALLY surprised that they actually listened to me when I called and then announced it on TV a couple of minutes later as "breaking news".
And they reported exactly what I told them... facts I'd written down and it was ONLY that much info, using the county name rather than towns, because I didn't know the towns nearby. So I know it was from the report I called in.
They then announced on the air they were going to be checking into it and would come back with more info. And they did!
I am still shocked, but very, very thankful, as that was a scary situation and people were understandably freaking out about it. Including me while I was watching it! Moms, kids and others were in the path and didn't even know it!
So thank you TX for taking time to share that info with them!
