An update to a previous post. My daughter has a new boyfriend. Her first.
We like him very much, but there's a catch. He is 'Mr. Outdoorsy.'
I know about the premathrin and tick spray and doing the tick checks and all that. But I can't help worrying.
We have not brought up the whole lyme thing with him or his family yet.
Any advice on how to handle this is appreciated.
Just for the record, my daughter is in remission, and in big-time denial about the the possibilities.

As a matter of fact they do. Hiking, horses, spends a lot of time at the state park near his house which is in the country, deer all over the place.

Hope she likes sea salt on her food because it kills a lot of pathogens including bb and parasites.

Uugh. I feel your pain. I had/have a bedbug phobia and every time I or my family stays in a hotel I go into OCD crazy-lady mode.
Anyway...my daughter is strong-willed... so when I'm stressed out or worried she automatically writes me off. I've found that talking to her about something important is all about timing. I have to catch her in the right mood when she has an open mind to listen to me.
Possibly this could work with your daughter? You could talk with her when it's just the two of you... putting emphasis on wanting her to be happy and healthy (which includes being careful and vigilant while outside)... and letting her know (in the nicest way) that the two things (health/happiness) are dependent on one another.
Good luck! I'm sure as my daughter gets older I'll be begging for plenty of advice!

I don't know what I would do if I lived in an endemic area. Here in the southwest, we don't even have dog or cat ticks.
I have never seen a crawling tick in my life. How I got this disease is a story for another day.
I think I would be praying continuously if my kid was out where the ticks live. What else can you do?
Hang in there. If there is one thing I learned from parenting is my worries are often so much worse than reality.
I like Family's advice.

Sea salt? I had no clue! Thanks for sharing this. I will look into it. I feel your pain! My 14 is with her dad right now, and he got her a HORSE! Arrggggg! She swears there are no ticks there, but get serious. It's in northern CA. Cross my fingers and pray....for both of us.

The key is awareness. Tick checks of the whole body and how to do it. Including having mom doing the backside check, hairline, ears etc.
