i checked my sister's furnace filter in the basement. it was so clogged i almost couldn't pull it out. she has five, yes five, cats. i said "when was the last time you changed this?" and she said "oh i don't know, couple of years ago, i guess." it was so dirty it was black and dust blew everywhere. so please, even if you're in an apartment, check that furnace filter and get it changed. we change ours every six months. unfortunately our new home system has a size we can't find in stores so the filters are expensive but it's worth it. -------------------- do not look back when the only course is forward

OMG!!!!!!! We change ours every 3 months. PERIOD. Tell her it can also damage the heater/AC if you don't change the filters. -------------------- --Lymetutu-- Opinions, not medical advice!

we got a new trane home system and these are custom. i hate that. we pay over 100 bucks for these filters and that only buys 12!!! i've tried and tried to get her to change them. i even remind my other sister and bil to go over and change them for her. that house is just too much for her and she's totally ignorant of what it takes to maintain a house, let alone a a/c or furnace system. hubbie is real good about pulling them out periodically and checking them. -------------------- do not look back when the only course is forward

Man, she needs to wake up. We pay about $10 for each filter. We buy the good ones. But that's only $3 a month. We both have allergies and hubby has asthma... soooo.... -------------------- --Lymetutu-- Opinions, not medical advice!

randibear What it sounds like is that you REALLY saved your sister's life. along with whoever else lives with her. THAT is a horrible fire hazard!! I'm guessing, though, that you did not get the "Hero's HUG" Here it is. -------------------- KentuckyWoman tired of medical run-arounds Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. ~ ~ Robert Frost
