- You may not need an attorney if you want to see if you qualify for medicaid.
Medicaid (insurance for low income, a federal program but managed differently by each state) is not based on disability but on income.
You would not have to convince anyone of anything as it's all about your income level. Medicaid can vary state by state.
Search for your state's offices, your COUNTY's offices to get more detail about how Medicaid works in your state.
However, Federal Social Security Adminstration Disability benefits are based upon disability (and the amount is based upon earned quarters for SSD. For those without enough earned quarters, SSDI has a fixed amount).
After a certain period of time, MediCARE is the insurance that goes with SSD / SSDI.
Some are then covered by both federal mediCARE and state MedicAID, depending upon their income level and their state's requirements.
Sadly, though, most often neither medicAID nor mediCARE cover lyme treatment. But they can still be a life line in other ways. -
