OMG....The past 3 days my Golden has been acting not right and presents just ill - not normal for her.
She has a history of lyme but this is not her typical lyme presentation.
The only thing that changed was her dog food -we added a different type Purina. So I googled "Purina Dog Food Recall" and came across the Consumer Affairs website with over 500 complaints about this dog food. Alot of dogs are falling ill and even dying after eating this food.
There are a few articles out there about how the FDA will not do a recall "just yet" - guess they want to wait till more dogs get sick.
I called my Vet and he said he has seem a few of these cases this past month and advised, of course, no more Purina. I am taking Bridgit in later for blood work...
From this point forward homemade food for my girl.

Try to stay with the holistic brands some of the smaller dog food stores carry. Natures Variety is one that only uses US ingredients and has never had a recall.
There are several good brands that will tell you they source from US only with all disclosed ingredients. Most local small pet stores carry those types of brands. I have never been hit by a recall with the dog foods I choose to use but they are more expensive and I have 4 dogs.
I hope you dog is going to be okay.

Thank Faithful777; I have seen Natures Variety at a few small/exclusive pet store and perhaps I will try that one along with what her vet recommends for home cooking.
I don't know why I have not put more thought and attention into her food and I will never make that mistake again.
I think she will be okay because she only had 3 days of the new crap Purina I gave her.

I use Natures Variety Instinct which is grain free and a little higher in protein. I have better results with weight maintaining with my dogs and better results with any ear issues.
My oldest dog is an 11 year old lab and she is in good shape on this dog food.
Also seeing as no dog food guarantees non gmo grains, I am happy to eliminate something they don't need in their diet anyway.
There is a raw food line in this brand too that is frozen food for the dogs.
Good luck with the home cooking. Lots of theories out there whether it is better or not for the dog. I know I can't cut it making food for the dogs when I work so hard to make sure we eat right.
