I used to teach elementary school and every year I played this prank on my kids. It was SO MUCH FUN!

This works well on ages 7-10 .. probably not so well for younger or older kids.

Any younger and they could get really scared, I think!

You take a shoebox and cut holes for the eyes to see into the box on one end. Don't make them too large or it won't quite work.

(cut two holes.. one for each eye)

Then put a mirror in the other end of the box inside. I had a note on top of the box that was really cute but now I can't remember exactly what it said.

Something about that this was really creepy or scary and that once you've looked into the box you have been April fooled!

When you look inside, you see the reflection of your own very creepy EYES! I used to cut a hole at the end of the box so the light would come in enough to see it all.

But if you make the eye holes big enough, it will work better. You don't want them to SEE the mirror, just the EYES.

What fun!! [lol] [Big Grin] [lol]

I had some kids that would nearly throw the box aside in fear but most got it without too much thinking! ... I told them once they figured it out, not to tell anyone what they saw. So the box got passed from kid to kid until they all had their laughs. I rarely had a kid who would tell. They would just say, "OH, I KNOW!"

This would be perfect for Josh's 5th graders. I'm going to pass it along to him. Too late for April fool's day this year but maybe he can use it next year.

Thanks TuTu! [Big Grin]

It's a riot! Yes, I've used it on 5th graders too. They figure it out pretty quickly but still get a good laugh!
