i watch some of these shows and go "omg!! they're going to get bitten big time".

shows like hillbillie blood, swamp people, ax men, and tons more, are just an open invitation to get lyme.

they encourage some people to go out into who knows what infested waters and lands and go dromping around without any knowledge of the animals or what's in the land.

amazing...no wonder lyme is on the increase...

i rarely go further than my yard now. and when it's west nile time, i stay inside and don't even go walking around the lake.

i'm to tired to spray myself head to toe with all kinds of stuff. so i'll wait until it's over.

wish i knew how many of these people have lyme.

I know. I can hardly stand to watch Cops because they go chasing people out in the woods and fields. Hubby used to watch it all the time so I saw it occasionally.

I don't watch any of the others.

Growing up in the country, having snipe hunts through cornfields, hunting morell mushrooms in the woods each spring, hiking in the Poconos, gliding on a swampboat in the everglades, and more.

Boy was I trusting and naive. Just like the people on these shows.

Just bought one of those Off clip on devices and Deep Woods Off at CVS this morning. Then I tried to talk seriously, but not scare her to death, to tell our teen daughter about always spraying herself before going out.

Never thought I'd be this, I guess you'd call it proactive, about bugs as I am now.

KW - I was going to say the exact same thing! HA!

I'm crazy vigilant now, too. When I see actors in any sort of grass, I think, "Uh oh. So much for their careers."

And when we go anywhere, I research all the possible disease vectors and dress/spray accordingly.

I'm sure everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I can live with that. No more vector-borne illnesses!!
