I have been using vitacost to order food products.
But, I am looking for another suggestion.
I am very weak and health is very low...so unwrapping all the bubble wrap is too much.
I do still want to order on line as the prices are much less than they are at the local stores.
I do understand the need for the bubble wrap as I had several things delivered before bubble wrap from vitacost that were destroyed during shipping.
Wondering how iherb is for food products??

In my experience, iherb is more expensive on most things. Only the breakables would come with bubble wrap. Be sure to get you a box cutter next time you are at Wal Mart! That will help you with the bubble wrap.
You could even call Vitacost and ask them to use something alternative. They use those air-filled packets a lot.
Go to iherb and compare prices. See what you think.

- The one whose distribution warehouse is closest to where you live and with shortest shipping. During summer months is not a good time to have any food or really any supplements sitting around in the heat.
Go for the shortest delivery time. Vitacost can take forever and ever as can some of the "free delivery" offers for any place. Best to pay for shipping and get it sooner.
Check the 10-day weather forecast for the path of travel at www.weather.com before placing order.
Also see if you can determine when any food items were actually packed into their containers, and where - so as to determine if they've already been trucked all around the country. This matters.
It's also good to find out the temperature control range at the warehouses where anything we buy is stored. That matters, too.
For food, you might check out the website for BOB's RED MILL. Items are much fresher if they are sent from their physcial site directly to you. Then you know they've not bounced around.
Also ASK for any special rates any direct supplier might be able to offer. Often, if asked, they will cut you a deal.
Any seeds or grains, and nuts can get rancid very fast in summer heat when their natural oils get hot. Be sure to store in the fridge or freezer (for nuts).
Beans are less susceptible to heat. -

- I was thinking maybe Schwann's but I searched their site for lentils - then for quinoa, millet and amaranth and they don't carry any of those. Not sure if they carry the kinds of real food items you have in mind if they don't even carry these main foods.
They only carry Wild Rice in prepared dishes.
If they have items you do want, though, I think their delivery trucks may be climate controlled.
Same with Safeway. I've not found most of their on-line offerings to fit with my food plan but that might be another option.
There may be some farm co-ops that deliver near you. We have a wonderful group called Organics2You and they deliver not just produce but also many other things. -

Vitacost food products are usually cheaper but you need to compare the specific item sometimes.
Now and then, Iherb might have something I want that is less expensive. I also use Amazon.com for some food and the subscribe and save program can save money on something you need every month.

iHerb.com has a temperature controlled warehouse.
Some sensitive items are sent with a cold pack in a small styrofoam case, without extra charge.
You get a discount at the checkout, depending on the size of the order, typically 5% or more.
Orders are sent out the same day, with tracking information. I've been less than impressed with other companies who mailed my orders several days later.

I prefer iherb shipping to Canada.. You will get charged customs fees with vitacost on large orders where with iherb you wont. Those customs fees are as much as the products being ordered. When I asked them why I was given a curt response as to they have no control.
I feel vitacost codes their items differently than iherb.
