He's 18 and is my son's best friend.

He had a positive ELISA. His dr drew blood for a western blot. I'm sure he will have some positive bands. Hopefully enough for a "legit" diagnosis.

It makes sense as he's been dealing with a lot of health issues over the years. He also has Chiari malformation, which is a birth defect.

I just talked to my sister and gave her the run-down. I sent her a bunch of links, too.

I don't want to overload her with information that will freak her out. But, she's freaked out anyways. At least she doesn't have to wade through the internet to find everything.

Oh, he might also have Lupus, too. His ANA was elevated. I told her that Lyme MIGHT do that too since it messes with everything. I also told her, absolutely, under no circumstances, NO STEROIDS!

<sigh> I love this kid so much. I hate that he has this. My sister has MS. So much to deal with.

Just venting since I know everyone here understands.

Very sorry to hear this! I know how that must truly grieve you.

Yes, many with Lyme have a positive ANA at one point or another. It may resolve with Lyme treatment. Mine did!

Your sister likely has Lyme also. Has she been checked?

No, my sister hasn't been tested. I've suggested it, but she hasn't done it.

I'll be suggesting it again very soon.

I have both Chiari Malformation and chronic Lyme. The symptom cross over makes for difficult treatment.

I have had 3 corrective neuro surgeries for the Chiari and see one of the best LLMD's.

My best advice is to make sure he is under the care of a Chiari specialist - there are just a few in the country.

If you have any questions about having chiari and Lyme at the same time feel free to pm me.

My nephew saw the PCP today. His WB showed one band, IgG 66. The PCP feels he doesn't have Lyme disease but gave him three months of doxy until he can get in with the LLMD.

The PCP knew about the LLMD and was pleased that my nephew would be going to him.

Is IgG 66 Lyme specific?

Wow, cool GP.
