Once again I applied to a program for more caregiver help.

I have been communicating to two different people via email as my verbal skills don't work.

I will know in 2 or 3 weeks.

My hope is I am approved this time.

My hope is also that it will help my health.

Just having warm meals should help.

I had 40 hours of help a month when I lived in CA.

Then, I moved to AZ and was only approved for 4 hours a month.

That was in 2005.

I'll keep your posted.

4 hrs ? they got to be kidding...
it would take me 2 hrs just to get them to understand my needs.. wake up if you are healthy, and do a human thing...
give a hand to those that truly need.
seems there is a fine line between folks that think they help - oh, i gave my change to someone ringing a bell.. really.
I dare those that have good notions to go to your neighbor - thats right that grouchy old person next door and share.. nothing more rewarding then seeing a real helping hand standing at your door.. love they neighbor as you would your self.. get up and go !

I remember in the "olden days", when someone was sick or in mourning, friends and family would bring by casseroles and soups.

Since I moved to the big city of Vancouver...I have tried doing that for my friends and neighbours several times...and they ended up throwing it out. My neighbours never even thanked me. And kept my pyrex pans. (Crime!)

And I am a good cook. And I have a spic and span kitchen, aside from one entire counter covered in meds and supplement containers.

So I don't do that anymore for folks from this "big city".

I do miss the sense of community in a small town, that's for sure.

I hope the 40 hours is approved for you Kam.

vision is too blurred this am to read what you all posted.

i'll be back when i am able to read.

Trying not to put too much hope into this. but must admit i keep thinking of things that would be better if i had more help.

first thing would be better meals. i have been eating baked squash now for quiet s some time.

i would relly like an omelet and other meals that are easy for me to chew and swallow.

greta...i had help in my old town.

I hadn't lived in that town long. I moved there for work.

Then got too sick to work.

But, i had great help with driving me to the doctor's out of town, etc.

Moved closer to my parents as they said they would help. ( I was reminded why I left home at 16. My parents had not changed but since I live in the moment with lyme and company it took me awhile to get out of harms way.)

So far, I have yet to make a friend here. Very strange.

I live in a senior/disabled apartment complex.

many have wanted to be friends but it takes too much out of me.

Very short conversations when I am able and out toileting Rosie is about it.

Very rare to run into someone who is ok with not talking and understands it makes me worse.
