Hey you all, I hope all is well and you all are hanging in there. I got a big let down today.

Blue Cross Blue Shield denied further IV infusion of antibiotics. They claim that one month is adequate time to be cured, really??? I've heard of this ignorance and still was not prepared for this.

I've done oral abx for 2 yrs for chronic 13 yr Lyme and was not progressing enough and had a PICC line put in a month ago and had one month of abx. I feel much better, I feel energy coming back, still have herxes but not too bad except for one very deep manic depressive day where I just wanted to die. I know that is pretty severe but I do know I am feeling improvement. Has anyone else had this happen? The Drs office and I are appealing the denial and trying to prove why these additional treatments are necessary. I am "self pay" to maintain my PICC line or have it taken out !!!

Remember, they want you to say ok and just give up. Most people do just that. You can fight them and appeal them.

Will come back later and see if we can't advise you on pushing back.

Dirty rotten dogs.

BCBS were the ones that only authorized 30 days. My PCP called them on 4th week and said, I want her on it for at least 2 more weeks. They approved it. That was '02, many moons ago.

All this worked out well for me. I had my first LLMD appt scheduled in 8 weeks. Of course I knew to be off abx for 2 weeks prior to Western Blot from Igenex.

That was the only reason I didn't raise my ugly head and fight them to the bitter end. My LLMD wasn't willing to let out of state, 8 hrs away patient be on IV.

Understandably. Have your LLMD order another 4 weeks. That gives you more time to fight the appeal and build your defense.

Of course you are in Arkansas where I'm sure you don't have "lyme in Arkansas" bull to fight.

Fight them, times have changed. BCBS knows there is a Lyme Disease epidemic. Push back hard.
