Happy Groundhog Day! I am suspecting we will see 6 more weeks of winter.

I will exercise my eyeballs in front of the T.V. to watch the Super Bowl.

My shoulder is way too sore to even do my P.T. exercises today. Am icing it a lot. May try aspercreme tonight. Topical aspirin solution.

Have a super week!

OH boy. What a day. Had a great start to the day. Our first church service begins at 8:30. It began snowing at 9. Very beautiful!

Since hubby is the musical director, we stay all day. Went to Sunday School. All is well. Still snowing. No big deal .. it seems.

About 15 people show up for 2nd service, about 8 of us in choir. Began snowing hard around 11:00. Well, hey... we're not about to abandon ship!! We're all sitting there enjoying the sermon and catching glances at the snow.

We have 4 tall windows on each side, snowy bluffs off to the side of the church, very rural scene. Nice.

Get out of church about 11:30. We see it's coming down heavily. No one panics. We're all seasoned warriors, right?

So we make our way down the steep hill from our church. Line of 4 cars in front of us. The first car can't make it onto the highway. (old guy, old car, no traction)

Finally, he had to back it up and leave it on the side. We relied on another member with a truck to rescue him. So .. we carry on. YIKES!

We only had to travel about 1 1/2 miles, but it's over unplowed roads with 3 inches of snow .. and it's SLICK. Somehow we managed to turn down the road to our place, travel all the way down the hill and make it home. WHEW!! We nearly slid off twice. You don't want to do that when it's all rocks and ditches on the side.

So .. later we hear that at least two friends had minor wrecks. Two had to walk 3 miles to get home. Several got stuck at various churches for hours. Oh... and one of those who had to walk was our very own pastor! Someone picked him up for the last mile home. I'm not sure where he had to abandon his car.

I guess we won't continue church the next time it starts snowing! They had originally said the snow would begin this afternoon, but changed the forecast this morning. So that is why we all got caught off-guard. Normally we would not even go to church on snowy, icy days.

The moral of the story is that it pays to be an atheist. [Big Grin]

That last line got a chuckle

Sorry you all had troubles...glad no major injuries...hope the cars are ok

I was kinda concerned about two of my kids in nj and nyc with the superbowl. I was glad to know my son stayed home...hes an hour south

I didnt want my daughter to sleep in the city tonight...9/11 is still like yesterday for me. But she and her husband are there. Its probably ok. The weather will be bad there in the morning...so if they had to drive back for work in the morning that could be dangerous too

I hope all are safe when they leave.

I sat out with etta a few times and threw snowballs for her to chase. I also shoveled a little bit when snow started falling off the house.

The best thing is i can take taxes to post office tomorrow morning

They say we are getting 3 snowstorms this week...one 6-12...

Sure glad you are ok tutu. I feel so bad when i see what happens down there when it snows and ices. Without treated roads and winter tires it is impossible...

Snow and rain were predicted for this weekend....but sadly we were disappointed.

Snow is predicted for today...a neighbor said 40% chance of snow or rain a little bit is predicted all week.

I am doing the snow and rain dance in my head as we get so little rain and snow here it is a treat.

Able to fill the kitchen sink full of hot sudsy water and put some dishes in it.

Resting now, then hoping to have what it takes to go back and wash them.

Able to go thru the drive thru car wash in town...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

I did see a few snow furries while I was out.

On my feet est 10 or 15 min....in the forest and boulders. I tried to find the rock where the native american's use to sit and grind something..acorns??

But, couldn't find this time.

Rosie had a great time running up and down the hills and in and out and back to me and then off again.

I tried to follow her to get back to the car but she took a trail that was too steep for me so turned back and found one more do able.

Sounds like a fun day kam

I had some fun...had a coupon for a 7 dollar haircut-i washrd hair before i went and am happy with it.

Mailed my taxes. Both things required short walk...then decided to get cheap pedi too-i used to have nurse who would do it for 10dollars at the other house and here my cleaning lady who is home health aide at her other job was doing it. But she has disappeared. Its been too long and i cant do it myself.

Also got some groceries. Needed yogurt.

So did afair amount of walking and gettung in and out of car today.

Tomorrow etta gets haircut . After i leave her i have to drive to another town for dermatology appt. Then go to irs in same town cuz i dont understand letter they sent me. I hope i can do that all and get back to picj up etta in time

With 3 storms coming starting early wed morning i dont see myself getting out much

But there will be shoveling for exercise!

Still waiting for biopsy result. Im getting a little nervous.

I hope you get some snow, kam!! You can have some of ours! Lots of it melted today. It's a good thing since we have 3-5 more inches coming tomorrow. It will not get above freezing for the next 7 days.

It's OK with me as long as we can still get OUT! Today it got up to about 42 degrees? So we went to the grocery store and stocked up.

I forgot to ask hubby if we could go to the health food store for some avocado oil to use with my essential oils. Dang. So I guess if I run out I'll just use some coconut oil instead.

I've been taking lots of snow pics. Maybe I'll have to post some here. I have to use photobucket for that.

Exercise?? What is that?? My exercise was walking in the grocery store.

Looks pretty--until you have to shovel it! We are expecting 5-10 inches today and tonight and then high winds.

Can we say "snow day and no school again" tomorrow?

My exercise will be slogging through the snow to clean off my car after work. My hands will get their exercise tightening around the steering wheel on the drive home. We still have ice on the streets, so this is going to be dicey.

Meanwhile I am walking around the classroom today while the kids do a lab. Great kids.

'Tis my planning hour now, so I'd better go plan.

Able to run a couple of errands. DRove to the ma and pa pharmacy and walked the few steps to the window. I need to go back to pick up the refill when able.

Drove to the cable office. Walked the few steps. Tried to sit and wait my turn with my peltor ear protection muffs on but couldn't sit for very long. So, gave the long term person my remote and told her I was going to my car to recline as I coudln't sit very long.

She came out to the car and brought me two remotes to try and remembered who I was and Rosie's name. [Smile]

Aw, that is great that she came out to help you and even remembered Rosie!

Hiker.. I think I better keep you in my prayers today as you have your white-knuckle drive home! Be safe!!

I managed to get a video of a downy woodpecker today. He was so cute flitting around in the snow! Not sure if it will post here.

Hiker.. We don't do much shoveling here. I used to do all of that. Hubby is not interested. He figures it will eventually melt. True for HERE! We are able to get to our car from the garage with just a little bit of snow to tromp through.

I wish he would clear it when it's easy to clear .. just a PATH, honey, just a PATH, please! [Wink]

OK Able to kind of clean the top of the stove and under the burners.

As I was putting the burners and stuff back on the stove I could tell things were not up to snuff.

Thiking at this point it would be best just to replace those whatever they are called tha tgo under the elec coils.
Even with my reading glasses on I still lhad trouble seeing clearly...

it was more ue to the lack of oxygen to the brain or blood.

Then the pain got to be too much so needed to lay back down here and rest.

But, thankful I am able to do a little bit again.

Not sure why. A friend sent me some supplements.

But, you know howw this things cycles.

I think I am done in for awhile now. Maybe I will be able to do more later this evening or late afternoon.

Kam--sounds like you are getting a lot done.

My students worked on a lab today on cleaning up an oil spill--either cleaning oil out of water or cleaning oil out of a bird's feathers. Some very innovative ideas.

Now they need a lesson in cleaning the beakers and other glassware well. No hot water in my science room, so I may have to find another place to get the beakers clean.

Snow just starting and I am home--everyone bolted out of the school building as soon as they were able.

My shoulder is still sore and now my knee is sore--think I twisted it a bit keeping my balance in the icy parking lot. Grr

Tuesday-At work and had to do some filing upstairs for about an hour and 20 minutes. Then more filing downstairs for about 30 minutes.

Now I'm going to sit here for a couple of hours and do as little as possible.

I worked so hard this weekend and I'm still not quite a 100% yet.

Patched doors with wood filler, stained door, scraped wrought iron railing, painted a closet, cleaned cabinets, helped load a small freezer, cleaned ceiling fans and put a globe on a light fixture.

I can hardly move today but still have to earn my bread and butter.

Am hoping I don't relapse.

I've got so much work to do at my Mom's. It's a real blessing that I'm only working part time for now.

See you all tomorrow!

Got up and swept off the snowy porch. Checked my e-mail to see we had no school today(6 inches of blowing snow--we got off easy compared to other places) Went back to bed.

Got up again, swept off the snow porch after my neighbor had attacked the driveway and walk with his snow blower. and...

am going back to bed. [sleepy] Hope everyone is safe and warm.

I did a lot of running around yesterday. Driving, in and out of truck is exercise for me,walking into offices-even a few steps-oh and lifting walker in and out of truck at each stop

So saw dermatologist-she made me feel guilty for taking her time when i didnt have skin cancer or acne. Years ago i was told i needed yrly screen cuz i have so many "things" on me...im getting too old for this world. I try but sometimes i just dont get it. I managed to get into irs office cuz they sent me threatening letter...no problem. It was their mistake so lady fixed it-but here you cant talk on phone...you have to go in if you cant figure out the website and for me it is really hard-parking, getting wanded with my fake knees etc...anyway it is done until next time

I did not get to disabulity cuz they closed at 3. I think i can talk to them on the phone

And etta got her haircut and was exhausted last night so we slept well

I drove by the ocean and it was beautiful-blue sunny sky, blue sparkly water...but i didnt have time to stop

Its noon now-we have 7 inches fluffy snow so im going to clear patios-its about half done-then i hope i can go out again just before dark

Hope i have energy to file leftover papers from taxes and bills so i can file as igo this year and not have major problems doing taxes next year

I know my shoulders will hurt...i wish the docs could tell me whatis wrong. They just keep ordering pt and that makes it worse

I dont know what show it was on but i just saw a lady say her only sx was shoulder and chest pain and it was thyroid cancer. They did a surgery and now she is on armour thyroud forever

Well...guess i better get doing something

Ak-i hurt when i read about you going up and down those stairs

Hiker-glad your having a restful day. Also glad you love your job. I remember when i was young my dad telling me how important it was to do something you love for work. And i remember seeing joy in my students when they finally "got" something they had been working on

Uh oh-that snow is really pretty butgetting heavy. Gotta go.

LP-careful shoveling or your shoulder will fall off. I really need to get the snow off my back deck as it blows back into the screen door, but I can't shovel now and toss the snow over the railings.

Hate to ask my neighbor to do more than he already does.

Still waiting on some of my tax forms.

Finally made my way outside and scraped the ice off the driveway, so when the mail comes I won't fall flat on my face.

Going to go read my good novel. It always feels good to curl up with a good book when it is bone chilling cold outside.

I have turkey chili going on the stove--smells heavenly.

BTW, loved the pix that were posted.

Turkey chili?!? I'm coming right over with my spoon!

Speaking of tax forms, I still haven't received one of my W-2's yet. Some companies like to drag their feet.

See you all tomorrow!

Aklnwlf--I always end up calling someone somewhere to get me a tax form. W-2's should be out by now.

Pretty cold here, but no more snow until...tomorrow night/Saturday (wow a 2 day break).

I haven't been outside since Monday when we went to the store. Brief moments on the patio to take pictures don't count, by the way.

My husband was able to get out for a big audition for a new show they are proposing. Everyone says it went well, so now we wait!

Can't wait to watch the Olympics!!

Gee...i love it when it warms up to the 20` s...

Today it was 27 and sunny but i just havent been feeling great soi opened all the curtins and made a sandwich and took the dog down to the ocean.

I always feel better when i breathe that air. It was beautiful but chilly with the wind. I deep breathed for about an hour. My sinus' got uncogged and my wheeze stopped. Still good.

Did some filing but felt like i would fall asleep-so just hunkered down now. Its costing me 100 a month for heat and i have a tiny house. Thats about twice as much as i planned for

Went grocery shopping and now am going to treat myself to a gluten free pizza while I watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

See ya tomorrow!

Friday-Sick! Ate old leftover spaghetti and within an hour started puking. Still came to work. Drinking a ginger ale. Looks like ginger ale and chicken and rice soup for dinner. [shake]

Hiker-Got my tax form yesterday so on to getting all my paperwork together to take to the CPA.

TuTu-I know my Mom is going to watch the ice skating. She loves that part of the Olympics. Have fun!

Randibear-Stay warm!

Kayak-Wish I could've went to the beach with you. My sinuses are acting up again and salt air sounds heavenly. BTW, I took Rocky one year to the beach and he didn't know what to think of all that water. I think he was overwhelmed! He didn't go in at all. [lol]

See you all tomorrow!

[hi]

I thought of your helper today tutu. Maybe cuz mine hasnt been here since before christmas. I cant contact her. She isnt returning calls. She had personal problems but did have a support system. She could be in hiding. I hope she isnt hurt or sick. I really miss the help. She is a good worker

I was kind of able to make my bed this am...ntohing like i use to do before lyme and company but enough to have a smotth bed to lie on and ut my down comforter over me...need heavier duty down comforter...this oen is light weight...good for summer bu tnot winter.

I also noticed how dirty the sheets and bedspread are...hoping to have the caregiver change them when she comes on Tuesday...food comes first though so ti depends on what I am able to do between now and then.

Kam--I rarely make my bed. Figure it can air out during the day and I am just going to get back in it at night--LOL!

Am doing laundry now and have a meatloaf in the oven.

And no surprise... it's snowing again.

Ak-i dont think i remember you had a brother there...im glad you have some help

Changing the bed was one of the most impt jobs my helper did for me. There is no way i can get fitted sheets on cuz of my hand. When she doesnt come i use two flat sheets. I have 2 very lightweight but very warm blankets...i never found my down comforter this winter-it must be in the shed. Sometimmes i hav 3 quilts over the blankets but it has been very hard to pull any covers on and off with bad shoulder

Today i worked hard for an hour chopping ice and pushing it out of the way. I am feeling a little safer. It has been scary shovelingor even just taking the trash out. I had to start spreading salt and i hate to cuz it hurts ettas feet and i am afraud it will kill my flowers

I made some progress on putting away papers too. Lots to go but it made me feel better.

Light snow tomorrow they say...i heard most of it was dumped in IL

Yep--we got some snow today and more coming tonight. It is the never-ending winter.

I scraped the drive after my neighbor went over it with the snow blower.

My shoulder is still too sore to do much. May need to find a new MD to look at it.
