"Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy..."

It is sunny out today. I slept in and missed church. Not a lot of energy today, but I picked up a lot of sticks/branches in the yard from the winter storms. Also cut back my clematis--can't wait for it to bloom in a month or so.

Did my PT, but the yard work really hurt the shoulder and elbow.

So, resting for the remainder of the day and gearing up to go back to work tomorrow.

Have a great week!

My mom used to grow clematis and a host of other beautiful plants! Living in Houston, you could grow just about anything.

Hope your shoulder gets better soon! UGH!!

It's bright and sunny here. Hubby went out for a bike ride. I so wish.

Tomorrow begins three days of no antihistamines, though I can take benadryl once in awhile if I have to. See the allergist on Thurs.

GO SPURS! [Smile]

I just checked my work e-mail. They want us teachers to come dressed in sweats, baseball caps, and school colors tomorrow. We are having a theme day about perseverance with a running track as a major part of it.

So, I dragged out my old coaching sweats (nice sweats) and they still fit. Wish I could dress like this for work every day.

I did go for a short walk this afternoon. Too beautiful a day to pass it up.

Went back to work today after spring break. Am tired but did my PT exercises.

I keep getting a sore throat off and on, but it is never red. I don't even want to see a MD, because antibiotics and I do not do well together.

Very windy here today.

Tutu-- I have tried everything.

It is not red or inflamed and I do not have a fever. It comes and goes. Energy healer did not think it was germ related, but I am not sure.

I don't even have mucous drainage. An enigma.

I went to dentist for cleaning but they didnt have time?!?

I dont get it-have to go back. They scare me with what they want to do

Used elec cart in walmart for two hrs finding gadgets etc to help me get organized-mostly shoes and clothes...but that will leave space for other stuff

Came home and wlked for about half hour putting things away

Then crashed for the night-ended up h as ving a sneezing fit and bad runny nose-very odd for me...feels like allergy but nothing is growing here yet...and i as m watching indoor air carefully...not mold conditions yet

An antihistamine calmed it down

...who knows

I hope tomorrow i will spray shutters and start to reorganize shed and box up stuff for salvation army

He wants to do two crowns-i dont have the money-when i say just pull the tooth or do a big filling he says it might break the tooth...and if he pulls it i will break teeth around it

I said id get a partial when i need to...he says tey dont work...i say its not even the money as much as i cnt take a lot of dental work cuz i get trigeminal neuralgia...

I am just sick of pain - i dont want infection(cavity) but i dont care one bit what i look like

I have to think on this-the first appt was emergency to fix two bad fillings...he didnt know if he could save either tooth-he saved one and gave me large filling in other-that one should have been a crown

The new one he says needs a crown was described to me by the strip mall dentist as being small...this guy says he cant do it without taking out original crown and redoing whole thing

These decisions are so hard...i can barely function cuz of pain ... i dont want more

Tuesday-Back to my regular part-time hours. So working 3-7 until my 9 hour Saturdays.

Well, this is what I did this weekend at my Mom's. Sunday, clipped one bush, raked out the ant hills that we treated 2 weeks ago and picked up trash in the yard. Took Mom to run some errands.

Monday-Worked on a ladder putting glaze on just one window that took me almost 5 hours! I'm way to old and big to stand on a ladder that long. I've got 7 more windows to go!

The real estate agent is coming next Tuesday so I have to touch up paint and put down pine straw before she gets there and work on some more windows.

I tried to find someone to do the windows but he didn't show up.

I can hardly move around today. [Frown]

See you all tomorrow!

i cant imagine that ak

i am still dragging but i did a little bit in 2 20 minute sessions

i started to unpack shed into carport and sprayed shutters

then i swept bees nests off shutters and raked the nests into garbage...if they hatch they will be far away

i put together a plastic tool holder that fits in the corner of the shed and put back the tools in a much more organized way

i got stuck with what to do with what...but i have a lot sorted ,,, thats the first step i guess...maybe before weekend i can decide what to keep and what to get rid of

it will be nice again tomorrow

Ak--wish I could do all that. I can't even balance well on a ladder.

LP--I'd get another dental opinion if I were you. I know a dentist my mom went to wanted to do all sorts of unnecessary treatments. She has great teeth and said, "no".

I went to PT after work and am wiped out again. Energy healer thinks she accidentally unleashed some sort of toxin that is making me feel worse. Usually when she prays she specifically asks that toxins that can remain dormant without harming my body stay dormant, because when I detox I feel awful. She forgot that prayer. Wish I knew what kind of toxin is there, but God is in control and it is His energy that does that healing.

Rainy here tomorrow--that's okay--it will keep the kids quiet at school.

I plan to go again on Monday if I'm not in too much pain tonight!

Remember when I was doing 40 laps and 15 min on the machine?? Oh, the glory days! [Smile]

I will be thinking of you at allergy testing tomorrow and eagerly awaiting your report.

I am still very toxic, so just did PT today and did not walk.

Wednesday-Not as sore today. Thought it was going to be a great day until I called my Mom.

She said some man came to her door after she was in bed around 11 at night! He was trying to tell her some story to get her to open the door. She didn't call the police but called my nephew instead.

Needless to say I'm worried sick. Makes me want to double my efforts on her house and get her the heck out of that neighborhood.

Sorry gang, not myself today. [Frown]

A friend came to change my air cleaner filter and hang a few pics

I just saw the news about storms in the middle-be safe you guys

Ak-so sorry about your mom. My mom lived in a bad place for many years because she wanted to. We couldnt get her to move-even after she was mugged on christmas eve. I hope you get her moved soon.

Thanks guys!! I need the encouragement! I just felt I was going downhill and needed to strengthen my body. My muscles are KAPUT!

AK.. that is scary!! I would have been calling 911 myself! EEK!

Glad you got some help from your neighbor, kayak. We need to hang a new framed print. It's heavy, so not sure we have what is needed in order to hang it. I found a good price on a "Windberg." He is a famous artist from Texas. Everyone in TX has a Windberg! [Wink] So now I have one. Woohoo!

I found it in a local frame shop and the owner was very familiar with him. He's one of her favorite artists!

Oh wow! I just looked online and found my print! It's the second one here:

https://www.google.com/search?q=windberg+prints&client=firefox-a&hs=NAW&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=fflb&tbm=isch&imgil=QQRj6B9uaqVWJM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencry pted-tbn3.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcRPzv9yg6PlMhEfpXtWt6uPLhPwcrX0nocBqDEqqEGrIOXEdA-L%253B1024%253B802%253BQNtDGiZlh1Kj9M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ico llector.com%25252FDalhart-Windberg-Prints_i15041491&source=iu&usg=__QPcEDik5zNG_1mn2FgqgWCaA3cE%3D&sa=X&ei=g5s8U4qKAaixsQThnYCQBw&ved=0CE8Q9QEwAA#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=yrzp6f54oJh 8tM%253A%3BXzlkXesjdNSlkM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fs3.amazonaws.com%252Ftexascrazy-assets%252Fproduct%252Fmemorable-windberg%252Fmemorable-springtide-windberg-f.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%25 2Fwww.texascrazy.com%252Fproduct%252Fmemorable-windberg.html%3B970%3B750

(the one with the windmill and the bluebonnets)

The owner of the shop showed me some of his paintings with snow scenes. They are amazing. She said he does the best snow scenes ever. I find that amazing since he lives in an area that rarely gets any snow!!

Hey gang! I survived yesterday's exercise pretty well! I'm pleased about that! Some of the neck stretches made me hurt, but I'll go easier next week.

I saw an allergist today about my hives and itching. He skin tested me for allergies and low and behold, it was negative!!! Amazing, since I used to be allergic to just about everything and even took shots for it about 30 years ago.

He thinks I have Chronic Idiopathic Uticaria. Basically, chronic hives that he says is auto-immune. GAG!!!

I had fallen off my diet, so I hope that by being careful again my body will respond positively. If I still have this after about 3 more weeks, it won't be good news.

He told me take Zyrtec instead of what I was taking. So maybe that will help.

Thursday-Went to lunch with my nephew. He's spending the night so I'm heading to Redbox after work for some movies. He brought a pizza and I bought boiled peanuts so we're going to pig out and watch movies.

Some better news about my Mom....the guy went to 2 other houses so I'm relieved he wasn't just targeting her.

I feel somewhat better but am still going to redouble my efforts on getting her house ready to put on the market.

Kayak-Thanks! Your weather must be nice to be able to work outside. It's 81 here today! I'm looking at my yard and wondering when I'm going to be able to pot some flowers and herbs. Thinking Mexican heather and some parsley definitely. Haven't figured out what else to plant this year. Usually do some Vinca, they're hardy.

TuTu-I'm with you! I wonder where the heck my muscles went. So many folks here at work try to stay in shape. I'm hoping it'll help motivate me to do likewise, once I'm done working on my Mom's house.

BTW, I liked the painting with the old pickup in the yard.

See you all tomorrow!

I liked that one too, AK!!

I love Mexican heather. I used to have some when we lived in San Antonio. About 2 yrs ago I found some here, so I bought it! It froze that winter though. Oh well! [Smile]

I had parsley last year, so hope to grow more this year. I also had some mint and spearmint. I enjoyed that too!

I hope your mom will be OK until you can get her out of there. Will she live with you, then?

Mexican heather:

http://bonnieplants.com/products/flowers/mexican-heather

Couldn't really find a good pic of it. It's a rather subtle plant.

Lymetoo--Bummer that your hives were not a simple allergy. I'll keep the prayers lifted up.

AK--I really want to get out in the yard, but I think for awhile I won't be able to do any digging or yard work at all due to the shoulder/elbow. Today I was in so much pain I could not even pull something out of my back pocket. Not sure why it went from getting better to worse. The physical therapist said to just do the stretching and not strengthening exercises for a few days.

I am so happy my parents are in a retirement home and I don't have to worry about them.

Have a good Friday.

I still need to do breakfast this am. Resting now.

Caregiver was 30 min late but she brought lemons for me so it balances out

She put clean sheets on the bed. She is cleaning the bathroom now which rarely gets cleaned.

Walked the few steps to the pharmacy twice. They were still closed for lunch.

Walked into ma n pa health food store with peltor ear muffs on adn go ta few things..couldnt' sign name so the owner scribbled for me on debit card.

Dont know what i spent either but I can chcek the receipt or the bank statment on line to see what was deibted.

and was able to get gas.

Really confuse as to why I am able to do some much more than I have in a long time.

But, trying to record it so when I am wonderin gwhy I can't do anything and feeling so laousy, I will remember that I was able to do a lot on this day.

Kam,

Glad you were able to get so much done.

Sounds like your MD is a bozo.

Finished up another week of teaching. Had fun with my writing class. They are learning the art of persuasion.

So, I had them invent a product or service to sell and make an advertisement using the persuasive strategies we learned. They were really good and very funny.

Am worn out, so will just do my PT exercises today.

Thought about grocery shopping, but 40 mph winds and me walking or pushing a cart through the lot don't mix.

Toodles.

Friday-No exercise just resting up for the weekend work marathon at my Mom's. Can't wait to see her and give her an extra big hug.

Me and my nephew watched Captain Phillips and The Hunger Games (Catching Fire) last night. We enjoyed both very much.

He's staying maybe another night. We're heading out after I get home from work to eat dinner and listen to some music at the little hole in the wall place I went to last Friday night. I hope he enjoys it as much as I did.

TuTu-Hey, I thought of trying some mint too. What did you use yours for? I recently bought black peppermint tea, which I love.

BTW, I wish my mother would live with me, but I live in the country and she wants to stay in the city. I have plenty of room so I'm going to fix up a room for her just in case she can't take care of herself anymore.

Hiker-Rest that shoulder. When I over do it, the best thing is rest and maybe some ice for inflammation. I really can't do a whole lot with my left arm without it flaring up. Baby it along, that's what I've been doing.

Kam-Glad to see you again Kam. How are you making your lemon/cuke drink? Sounds like it'll be really good for your health.

See you all tomorrow!

Saturday-Well had a bit too much to drink last night. I have no sympathy for myself.

Josh and I got there to late for the live music. I had a shrimp poboy and he had a chicken poboy. They came with fries.

They had a DJ, so yes, I got up there and danced. There was another lady up there dancing by herself so I joined her. I only danced to one song but it sure was fun.

Kayak-Good luck with your yard sale. I sure don't miss doing all that work for my Mom's yard sales. Think we had them every weekend for at least 2 months.

Kam-We watched Gravity too. I liked that one too. I love to watch TV and movies. I didn't have cable or satellite for years so it still seems like a treat.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hey gang!

Not going to type a lot .. but hi and enjoyed reading the experiences here.

AK.. I was using the mint in green smoothies. I don't add any sweetener, so it makes them more tolerable!

I went to a memorial service for a church friend. He was 86+ .. we used to go have lunch occasionally and see a movie. It got me out of the house back when my feet were so bad. He was a nice guy and I'm glad my husband was OK with our little dinner dates. [Wink]

Then we went to another church friends' house for supper. I was so miserable with itching yesterday that I am shell-shocked today. Just trying to get things to calm down.

Zyrtec is not all that great, but supposedly is better than what I was taking. I don't agree right now!

This is why I think I have other issues causing the hives. Mast cells spew out histamine .. so therefore the antihistamines help.

Gorgeous day here. I made my chicken salad that has everything but the kitchen sink thrown in--in this case: chicken, celery, red grapes, water chestnuts, green olives, and pecans. I never use the mayo, but sometimes put in artichoke hearts and black olives.

Went to the grocery store as it was not windy. Will take a walk this afternoon.

Able to put away some of the clothes from laundry.

Looked for my wash clothes and hand towels and couldn't find them. Ahwile back I noticed I had about half of my towels on the shelf in the bathroom.

I thought someone had helped themselves in the laundry room.

But, now that I have been able to organize my linen closet vs things just being stuffed ont he shelves form the careigers....

i realize that a caregiver must have taken my towel sets.

I usually use a bath brush and don't use a wash clothe or the hand twoels.

But, my current caregiver broke my bath brush using it to scrub the bottom fo the shower floor.

So, I was looking for wash clothes to use in the meantime. Nada.

Not a happy camper...wishing I was doing well enough to take care of househld chores myself instaed of having the cycels when I can do a little bit and then long cycles when I am not able to do amuch at all.

Almost caught up in the ktichen...still need to empty the dishwasher and wash the top of the stove...oven really needs cleaning but I'll need to hire someone for that.

The pharmacist was also out of gabapetin so I have cut it in half and am hurting which makes me angry.

I just recalled I have the muscle spray I can use...next time I get up..i'll use it to help.

Kam that just makes me sick but doesnt surprise me

Both post surgery at home and in the hospital the quality of care was awful

I saw and heard them - in my mind it was abuse altho they didnt actually beat on this lady who was in and out of dementia-it was awful how they treated her

And it took me a few days to realize i was missing my pt in rehab(the whole reason i was there) because i was getting pain meds 4-5 hrs late-it took anoyther 3 days of my constant complaining and then throwing loud hissy fits and finally aking for supervisors 2-3 times a shift

They finally fired someone and everyone was very nice to me...a few thanked me...i guess the bad apples make it hard on their peers too

The ppl that came to my house were down right scary...i didnt want them touching me-they smelled...talked about me...some would let it slip

I dont know what the answer is for us with family not caring...and paid help impossibly high and what insurance covers just gross and dangerous

Kam .. maybe those washcloths are hiding somewhere? No telling where your helpers put them.

kayak .. did you make some money?? [Smile]

hiker .. I hate you. Just kidding! I'm just hungry! [Big Grin]

My helper came today even though I didn't feel up to it. By the end of the day I was doing better, but I'm tired. I think I will go to bed now! Gotta get up early.

I tried to read what you all posted but couldn't take most of it in.

Typing with eyes closed.

Able to put 3 loads of wash in.

Hung up two loads to dry...bedding...noticed things did not come out clean again. ..ugh

It was tough going to get the things washed. A large pile on the floor still needs to be washed.

Able to take Rosie around the block to toilet. Need to go back and pick up poopers.

Used purple relay to leavea message for doc.

First time using the system. Worekd well for me. I entered docs name in contact list on computer screen on web site.

Clicked on make call, clicked on doc's number, relay opersator left message for me that I typed out.

I couldn't recall the initials for ending a call so asked. It is SKSK.

I noticed that they still had my old insurance listed on the bill they sent me. I wondered if that is why I got the $150.00 bill from the last office visit.

Brain is gone now. That call was all I could handle for now.

Time to take Rosie out to tilet again and see if I am doing well enough to pick up poopers.

If not, it will have to wait..I don't want anyone ahving to pick me up becasue I tried to lean over an dp ic up Rosie's do.

A friend is paying to get Rosie's summer cut/grooming. I am excited about that. I know Rosie will be too...

I have been scissor clipping her during winter when health allows. I like to clip her when the wind is blowing...it blows her curls away...

I usually don't have waht it takes to sweep them up so that works out well.

I only scissor clip for about 5 min at a time as thaat is all the body can handle so not much hair but enough it is nice to have mother nature take care of it for me.

Tutu..nope. I checked for other places that the caregiver might have put things....I sure hope it is not the caregiver I have now.

My sunglasses have been missing for a while now...

It is towel sets. The hand towel, wash cloth and bath towel. The nice big fluffy new looking ones.

It could be worse. I learned on the wheel chair web iste that a few people have had thier meds stolen.

I don't know how they proved it was their caregivers but they were able to prove it enough to have the people go to jial.

A lady here at hte apartments had a person come to her door the other day and say they were here to visit so and so on her floor.

When they asked if they could come in and make a phone call...she ddin't think much about it as she knew the person they were here to visit who they said was not home.

They then asked if they could use the bahtroom.

Thsi is where she keeps her pills. They took her pills.

She was not able to get more for a month because she was not able to prove hers were stolen.

Whoever it is also goes from door to door knocking on the doors or checking the handles to see if the door is open or unlaocked.

People are putting notes on their doors that whoever keeps knocking on their door or trying the handle that the police have been noitfied and they are being watched.

Not...the cameras in here are fake.

They most likely know this as it has been going on a long time.

OK Need to write about positives tuff. Just a heads up.

My friend is coming to go camping with me...not this coming wekk but the follwoing week.

She is coming form CA.

Sure hope my health is storng enough to get my camp gear in the car this week.

Then, next week, I plan on having someone set up my tent before she comes so I will have some strenght when she gets there.

I also have to learn to let the person who is setting up my tent do just that and stay laid down..as I was felling well enough last time to help out and used up all my eerngy.

I also need to pay the camp host or write out a check ahead of time and give it to them...as they always want to talk, etc and that takes strength out of me too..even if at the time I think I am doing OK and enjoy talking with them.

I guess I need to find a place to put my pills to be on the safe side while the caregiver is here.

Most of the time, my health is not doign well enough to hide my purse or hide the pills so it is tricky.
