"Amen! I love this thread Payne!"

"Pocono, Jesus said that I have come that I might show you the Father. He also said, if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.
What did Jesus do? He went about healing the sick, binding up the broken hearted, casting out demons. We never see it recorded that Jesus said your sins have made you sick.
As a matter of fact, after Jesus had healed a blind man, his disciples asked him who had sinned him or his father. He replied, neither.
I do not understand why His children are sick. but I do know He came to set us free from the effects of sin which encompasses sickness.
That is what I will believe and when I doubt, my husband believes it for me."

Payne, your post- at the end- reminded me of a song my kids came home singing from VBS: can't remember exactly...

Not my brother
Not my sister
Jus' me 'o Lord, standing in the need of prayer.

Not my deacon
Not my preacher
Jus' me o' Lord, standing in the need of prayer...

Amen to your prayer. No one and no thing can stand in the way of God. Amen! I needed that reminder, thank you all
Pocono Lyme -
Good Sunday morning brothers and sisters.

I love having all of you to share thoughts with.
I remember hearing a sermon about trials and tribulations. What was said was that God may be molding us to be what He wants us to be.

In a sense, we should feel honored that He chose us. I am honored to be His child. He wants me despite my being a sinner.

Lately, I've been mourning my life as I knew it. Not all of it though. ha ha I've been missing being able to do things I used to be able to do.

Payne - you said exactly what I believe. The part about God having you sit there in poor health so that you can read His love letters to you.

I know I wouldn't have gotten as close to Him as I have if it hadn't been for getting so sick.

During my mourning, I thought about what I would do if I had my health back. I think I might slip back into "I have to get everything done".

I'd be afraid that "everything" wouldn't include reading/listening/sharing His Word. I don't want to go there. I'd rather stay sick.

Instead of feeling sorry for myself being homebound, looking at these same walls for nearly 10 1/2 years, I need to change my perspective.

Thank You Lord for providing these walls for me to look at. I have food, shelter, warmth and all that I need because You gave it to me. Most importantly, I have You and Your Word. More important than the rest.

Thank you soccermama. We do need those reminders like your husband gives. Have a blessed day.
In Christ.

I just finished watching Turning Point with Charles Stanley.

He made a point which I never thought of. He said no one goes to Jesus first. Jesus comes to us. It is up to us whether we respond.

He comes to us in many ways. It could be through hardships,...

Friends,

My heart is heavy.

My son-in-law called to say that my daughter told him they are getting divorced and she took the boys (age 7 and 10) for a ride to tell them.

She has not treated him well for at least 5 years, but this is not what he wanted and it took him by surprise.

My grandsons will be devastated...my son-in-law is and so are my husband and I.

Please pray. There is no crying emoticon, so... [Frown]

Friends,

Thank you for your prayers, understanding and support.

Thank you for the beautiful song and reminder of God's amazing grace.

I have been reading through the 4 Gospels during lent. For some reason I started in Luke, then read John, then Matthew and now I am reading Mark.

I highlight some scripture as I go and put a bookmark in my Bible where I left off.

Tonight I sat down, brokenhearted, and opened my Bible to read.

Where was I to start reading tonight? Mark 10.

The title says "Teaching About Divorce".

My mouth dropped open. Jesus always knows exactly what I need.

So I read and prayed...."...What God has joined together, let no one separate."

I prayed over their family picture asking fervently for restoration.

The very next title at the beginning of Mark 10:13 is "Jesus Blesses Little Children".

Please bless my little grandsons, Lord. Please restore their family and give them hope and peace. Let them feel Your love as they have never experienced it before.

Thank you friends for praying. Please keep praying.

[group hug]

I forgot to tell you guys.
I had a long pleasant conversation with our Pastor today. We discussed the power of prayer.

I told him about Joshua and he was in awe. I asked him how a man was doing whom we've been praying for. He had been hospitalized for months.

He's home and doing well!
He also shared about a woman who was in a serious car accident. She slid on black ice and hit a tree head on.

She had serious head injuries and was not expected to survive. Her husband asked for prayer and explained the grave situation.

She's home and getting therapy!

Another member's granddaughter went into liver failure and then developed pneumonia. On life support. Prayers have been going up for her too.

She is still in the hospital, her liver tests are improving and they're planning on weaning her off of the ventilator soon.

What an awesome God we have! [bow]

Thanks so much Pocono. I so appreciate your prayers for our family.

How awesome that those people you shared about are doing so much better! God is good!

I just read a really cool book called "Signs, Wonders and a Baptist Preacher" by Chad Norris.

It is about a man who is a preacher, who suffered from depression and panic attacks and decided to really read and study the Bible, and see if it was possible to operate the way Jesus commanded His disciples to operate.

This really transformed his life.

He started witnessing many healings and other wonders. He talks about how we are all His disciples, so it is a matter of believing that Jesus works through our prayers.

His church is in S.C.

I found the book to be very fascinating and encouraging. I found it for only $3.99 at a store called "Ollies" where they get a lot of buyouts of books. They have a lot of inspirational books there.

http://chadnorris.com/

I am praying for all of you also.

My children belong to a coop for homeschool. When I am down, I will send an encouraging email to the mothers as a way to strengthen myself.

This morning I sent this e-mail and thought it might encourage others here too.

I exhort you this morning to stand fast in the hope of your calling. To know that He is faithful to complete that which He started...that His promise is that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Though many are the afflictions of the righteous, He will deliver us from them all. He is our tower and refuge where we abide. Be reminded that we abide in His shadow and we are hidden in Christ.

So I strengthen you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to stand as the fiery darts of the enemy fly. Know that nothing can touch the children of God for greater is He that is in you than the evil one that is in the world.

So be blessed in His peace and walk in His joy today. Amen and Amen!

Beautiful Soccermama. Thank you.

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Happy moments, praise God.

Difficult moments, seek God.

Quiet moments, worship God.

Painful moments, trust God.

Every moment, thank God.

I second Payne. Hives be gone!!! I read where hives are often caused by allergies as we know. It could be by contact or ingestion.

Sometimes the cause is unknown. Can last for months and rarely can last years. Yikes! Prayers for relief for you Lymetoo.

I enjoyed your encouraging shares, friends.

On Friday mornings during the school year, my husband and I go to church because our 2 grandsons are there with the school kids.

This morning during church, I was kneeling, praising God, and praying before communion for restoration of my daughter and son-in-law's marriage for the sake of their two sons.

I prayed for them to seek God's will for their lives and to be obedient to Him.

I prayed "What God has joined together, let no man separate."

During this time, the sun started to shine through one of the stained glass windows right into my face and my husband's face.

I thanked God for shining the light of His Presence on us.

This happened again as I was praying after communion.

After church, my husband and I walked to our car.

I looked up into the sky and noticed that the entire sky was gray and cloudy. The sun was no where to be found.

Yet God chose to shine His light on us at a time of need. Thank you, most glorious and gracious God. I love You with all my heart.

What a beautiful thing to happen Dekrator!!

Did we get the word sun from "Son"? our Light

I sometimes wonder how many times we miss God trying to get our attention.
You were paying attention Dekrator. You had your Son glasses on.

I feel your excitement.

A fitting song by Mercy Me. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Not sure where the word sun came from, but it's possible that it came from the Son of God...our Light, as you said, Pocono.

I wonder that also, Pocono...how many times we miss God trying to get our attention.

I have had a fair number of these God moments in the last 3-4 years as my relationship with Him became much closer through hard times.

I have written them down, so I can remember all of them.

Thanks payne, you also have a great weekend!

I started PT for my shoulder/arm pain yesterday and I go back tomorrow morning. The PT feels that the root of the problem is in my neck.

That makes sense since I have had neck pain/stiffness and a resulting headache for 6 years.

It is late, but I had a thought and didn't want to lose it....

In my limited knowledge, when Jesus rode in on a donkey the people waved the palm leaves welcoming their new king. The king that would change their earthly lives and from the tyranny they lived under. They missed or could not see yet the eternal gift of Jesus...

What do I miss? What part of my load would be lightened if I did ponder God's promises of eternal life?

Oh my, late, thanks for letting me blab in my zzzzzzz state.
