I asked my doc about this when he wanted me to go on simvustatin. he said the actual drug cleared in up to 48 hours but the side effects could linger for months.

When i stopped the statin that put me in a walker i was able to walk alone in ten hours. But i was not better and i think it did permanent damage
There are protocols of supplements that help i have books and have studied on line but cant remember all now
The most important i think is coq10 or ubiquinol-they are expensuve-some say better quality ones work better
I need mag, cal, and fish oil too
I also eat half a banana most days for potassium
I know in the past i have posted some of the protocols-i will try to search but im not doing well and have to use phone so not sure if i will get it done
Maybe someone else knows...there was a group here talking about it awhile ago
I also use curcumin and ibuprofen...but im full of arthritis ...i could never work the way you do

When its a clear change in how i feel starting or stopping a supp-that is how i tell what to take-sometimes it takes awhile.to figure it out

Statins were in the news last night. I didn't catch why...but caught that they might not be as good for you as original thought.

While there isn't currently a link between dietary modification and statin effectiveness, Sugiyama says when doctors prescribe statins they want to decrease cardiovascular risks and obesity. He says the message is that doctors should continue to stress nutrition with patients on statins.
Sugiyama says another long-term study will be needed to identify the different dietary intake trends of the users, including whether the group began eating more because they started taking statins or if the users were more likely to eat and weigh more prior to treatment.
"Extrapolating from our study result, we can predict that statin users in the future will eat and weigh more than current statin users do," Sugiyama says. "This change will offset cholesterol-lowering effect of statins to some extent."
